DOENI Road Saftey Ad - Has it gone too far ?

Shock tactics, accidents will always happen, people (children) will always be killed as long as there are cars on the road.

Does it mean we should be complacent, "no", does it mean that maybe we should be reminded of to be more careful on the roads, "yes".

As for the add I think it's a bit OTT but it's getting the message across.

Isn't this more due to the fact that they are paid for by the Northern Ireland executive and aimed at an audience here. What's the point of showing this advert on ITV Anglia when it contains figures in it that are specific to Northern Ireland road deaths?

Other countries have bought previous campaigns and adapted them.

These ads just look like the primary incidents from episodes of Casualty, just squashed into one minute.

I made a complaint to the standards agency over the anti-speeding advert with the creepy dead kid, apparently they received quite a few and agreed the scenes would get a film a PG or higher rating but decided to take no action.

as that the reversed one when the girl was uncrashing in slo mo?

I don't see what the whole fuss is about. The main reaction I keep seeing is "OMG THAT'S TOO MUCH YOU CAN'T KILL KIDS ON TV!!!111", which is just histrionic nonsense. The ad itself isn't even graphic, and plays out in an absolutely absurd manner. Heck, the actual shocking part is basically just a rotating CGI car moving across a bunch of kids lying down. No gore, no blood, no crunching. Nothing but people getting themselves into a tizz over the idea of children being hurt.

Well, guess what? That's the point.

Plus a mate of mine did the voiceover. :p

EDIT: A much more effective Aussie ad that one story on the DOE one linked to:

I actually laughed at the absurdity of it. It hits a point in a fashion, but too many people will have their knickers in a twist about it.
