Do you legally have to notify partner of child?

Long story short, a girl I know was married to a guy for about a year. It didn't work out for numerous reason and they separated, not on good terms. Turns out girl was pregnant at the time of separation, father was unaware. She gave birth a few days ago and girl has stated she will not allow the father to know the child exists. Registering baby as father unknown, giving baby a different second name, and plans to tell child once she's grown up her biological father is dead ( insert other nastys here)

As a man or any parent I'm pretty furious at her, the father has every right to know in my opinion. I'm in two minds about telling him my self but really need to mind my own business. She's been plotting for a while, sending leading texts in hope for abusive texts in reply so she can save them and use as evidence if he was to ever find out about child (which he wasn't)

Was just wondering if there was a legal duty to notify the father, especially given mother will be claiming benefits as a single parent, surely CPS will want to know?

She'll let him know as soon as she figures out she could be rinsing him for child maintenance.

Don't get involved.

Poor kid :(

Although if people waited until they were in a stable relationship before getting their penis out, less of this sort of thing would happen.

At least he knows now.

Still not going to be easy for him, mind. My brother-in-law has a 12 year old daughter, and for the last 5 years has been unable to see her despite the courts ruling that he must have access to her. The Mum just locked the door and closed the windows when he arrived, and didn't even acknowledge his presence, or made sure none of them were in the house when he was due.

It wouldn't be so bad but when they split the Mum moved 200 miles away.

Maybe OP should edit the first post, too many people can't read past it.

:)

So even though the courts said he could see the child she still didn't allow him? Is she now not breaking the law or something by ignoring the court?

It doesnt seem to matter... mate had same problem and court just keep giving the mum another chance... been going on for 8 years now they just dont enforce it. If they did mum would goto jail and thats detrimental to the child.

Women hold ALL the cards... she literally has to abuse the kid to the point of breaking bones to get them taken off her.

In his case the lying skank did things like say she was worried for her daughter because "i think i saw child images on his laptop".... well the social services jumped on him like he was defacto a peado! he had a nightmare just because this deranged cow told a lie and they simply just believe her.... "oh we much think of the children!!!"---- the mantra of the social services while they trample over you're rights.

I am nearly 40 and decided long ago i never wanted kids so i got my tubes tied... "nuke em from orbit.... only way to be sure! " :p

She just pleads innocence; saying she forgot, or the time was inconvenient, or he was late, anything to say she wasn't truly at fault.

He'll be able to get access, but he needs to be prepared for a possibly long, drawn out and very expensive legal battle. A mate at work has spent literally thousands of pounds to get access to his daughter after his ex denied him all access from before the child was even born. Even after a judge had ordered that he should have access it wasn't always given. It's only several years later and after his ex has been threatened with jail time that he can finally see his daughter.

That is pure evil. I think that a mother and father should have 50\50 access to the child as a starting point enforced by the courts and the power to impose sanctions if the any of the parents break the court orders. Obviously 50\50 would not always work but it is a starting point.
