My wife and I are looking to go to Vegas around November for a 4 or 5 night break and wondered where the best place was to book such a trip?

Anyone got any suggestions?

I've tried Travelbag and they look pretty good but open to any other suggestions!

Also, has anyone tried the **** hotel??

Book flights with the airline. Book hotels through someone like hotels.com.

Though quite why you want to do 2 11 hour flights to stay 4 days is beyond me. Flights to Vegas are expensive, hotels in Vegas are very cheap. Stay at least a week for hardly any more money.

Just stay in Days Inn (Wild Wild West Gambling Hall) which comes with a free Denny's breakfast every day (which are awesome and huge). It's one of the cheaper places there and actually really nice. The walk isn't too bad to the main parts of the strip either. Book the flight through Kayako/SkyScanner.

Unless of course you want the more expensive staying on the strip, centre of Vegas hotel type experience?

Also get a bus pass if you're lazy (or if it's 43°C like it was when I was there!)

if you're booking a hotel on the strip book through their own website. you an always find discount codes and then if another better deal comes along you can re-book and cancel the original booking (without charge) (at least with the MGM Group hotels anyways)

(had to book 14 rooms in vegas for when i got married so did this trick with all of them - worked out cheaper than any uk comparison site, the group booking through the hotel - even with a discount as we got married in the hotel)

try the website smartervegas.com

you can also find coupons for dining on that website. you'll pay like $10 for a $40 coupon to use in the restaurants (small ones to big ones)

if you are hiring a car, it might be worth flying to LAX and driving to vegas (flights are cheaper to LAX (plus you could visit a few other places nearby)

agree with above though, go for a week. it wont work out mush more expensive.

there is a monorail which runs up the one side of the strip, its useful to get around (indoors - but in november id say just walk everywhere)

Im staying for a week at the end of November in the Vdara Hotel on the strip, it cost just over £1500 for 2 with flights and hotel (including the weeks hotel rates), that was at lowcostusa.co.uk. from what I read I would absolutely get a hotel on the main strip as the the costs is negligible when you count cost of travel to the strip from a none strip hotel.

The Strip hotels are hardly expensive. The standard rooms on the strip in hotels such as TI, Mirage, Caesars, MGM, even Bellagio are among the best quality and cheapest I've ever come across. No problem with doing as you recommended if you want to be proper proper budget, but for the amazing value good quality most people will stay on the strip.

Also....

What Fox said (just like the cimilar NY thread on here).....Vegas for 4/5 nights is a completely stupid holiday plan. Go for longer or not at all IMO.

Thanks for the balanced critique of my travel plans!! :p

The reason I'm (only) going for 4 nights is that we've got 2 young kids and 4 nights is about the maximum either of us feel comfortable leaving them with grandparents for!

We've both been to Vegas before, including part of our honeymoon, so we sort of know what we want to do and where we want to be etc so I was really just looking for the best/cheapest place or way to make the bookings!

Thanks joelk2 and Colbaker for the website suggestions - I'll take a look!

Thats pretty much what we did and we just got back last week:) Very hot though 107! Hotel room was very good, two big screen tv's dining\kitchen area, lounge, bedroom and en suite.

I doubt it will be that warm, or even warm at all, since we are looking to go in November! :p

I am tempted with the Vdara though, although am I right in saying it's the "sister" hotel to the A r i a (not sure why that's starred out in my OP!) and it doesn't have a casino in it??

This whole situation of "resort costs" is annoying me!

Lol :p I was just saying it as I saw it! To be honest your reasoning is sound and I don't blame you not wanting to be away from your child for too long. If you can tolerate the journey for a short trip then good luck to you. You'll be tired but hope you have a good trip.

Seriously, what? A Days Inn? Days Inn have a place - as a motel of last resort on a road trip where you can't find anything else - but in Vegas? Vegas is one of the few places in the world where you can stay in absolutely stunning, fabulous world famous hotels for almost no money. There is so much oversupply in Vegas that you can get awesome deals on most of the hotels if you go midweek.

Why on earth would you stay in a Days Inn!? We stayed right on the strip at Planet Hollywood in a room with a 50" TV, dual marble sinks in the bathroom and a great view for 40 quid a night! Even if Days Inn were free it wouldnt have made more sense!

Yeah Vdara is the Sister to ****, I like the fact it does not have a casino, No smokey Casino to go through when arriving at hotel, also **** has a Casino, Also it is attached to the Ballagio through a walkway.

I am really looking forward to it as never been, Looks like weather is around 14 - 16 Degrees at the end of Nov (Historically) but can be changeable as it is in the middle of a Desert :D. We will be out there for thanks giving so i will be interested in seeing how the Yanks in Vegas celebrate it (although i believe it will get very busy on the weekends), I am also passing my parental responsibility's to my parents for the week and its the first time both of us have been away from them :O (7 and 3 year old boys).

Because I had just spent all my money travelling through through Europe, Russia, China, Asia, South Africa and New York :p

Wouldn't care for a 50" TV and dual marble sinks either. I came in at 4am most nights and collapsed into bed. Too much to see and do to make use of that stuff.

Everyone's tone in GD seems very stressy these days.

Ok but that doesn't seem to match the circumstances of the OP.

I was just highlighting how well appointed the hotel was given it's very inexpensive rate.

Thanks for all of the replies guys - I've got a few additional idea's on where to try to get the best rate!

As for the hotel, we are looking at a 5* all the way - like people have said, only 4 nights so can afford to pay that bit extra for a bit of luxury! :D

With 2 young-un's at home, aged 1 and 3, I doubt we'll be out partying until the wee hours - more like we'll be sleeping A LOT so a nice room is a must!

Definitely leaning towards the A r i a (anyone know why this is starred out when you type it normally??) but we'll see!

I can't wait to see how much has changed since we last went back in 2008!

We've managed to talk ourselves into an extra night making it 5 nights so I've been looking around at travelbag, ebookers and lastminute.com and even with an upgraded suite at the A ria, we are looking at just over £900 each with direct flights!

Has anyone got any other sites I should be trying and also has anyone got any experience of the A ria hotel?
We are looking at upgrading from the standard room to the "Corner Suite" which looks to be very nice!

Also, it looks like we can get a flight upgrade to premium economy coming home (night flight) for £125 each which doesn't seem too bad!?!?! (although never flown anything other than economy in the past so I wouldn't know if this is worth it!)
