being an assasins creed fan i thought i hadn't noticed the ubisoft issues on pc, but then i go and get far cry 2 for nostalgias sake on steam and what the hell is going on with that? for example i had to do the following to get it to accept screen res:
set to dx10 mode, turn settings up [low, by default, on a 290x? lol no]
set to dx9 mode, game crashes
relaunch in dx9 mode, set resolution to 5040*1200, meet epically stretched menus and messed up vertical mouse movement
set to dx10 mode, game crashes
relaunch in dx10 mode, apart from stretched menus and mouse all looks fine.
launch new game, game crashes
relaunch in dx10 mode, find it's reverted to dx9 mode at 900*600 resolution
give up and play something that actually works
compared to the method for kerbal space program:
launch game, find its decided to change config to accept new resolution
go into hangar and ponder if vertical eyefinity would be better for building massive rockets.
bf3 and bf4 are the same, so even ea has got the hang of it [although some cutscenes bug by letting you see what you shouldnt be able to, but thats ok]
its also kinda sad the war of the gpu oem's, sometimes i ponder if you'd really need to have two rigs- one green and one red, just to get the best out of whatever game takes your fancy. shouldn't be like that by a long shot.
