Just got a Galaxy Tab 3 and have to say i'm not to impressed with the performance. It's quite laggy and not as fast and smooth as I expected it to be especialy with web browsing in Firefox. Will rooting the tablet boost performance significantly?

Depends on what you do after rooting. Removing some of the bloatware will mean more free resources for your apps. Flashing a custom kernel will allow you to overclock. Flashing a custom ROM will give you a different experience (I recommend doing this one).

Not fussed about overclocking as I don't like how hot it gets already. As for experience not fussed about that either. So shall I just leave it as it is?

Rooting just gives access to the file system, so no it won't but as Orc said, stick a custom ROM on there and with a few tweaks then yes, you *could* notice a significant performance boost.

got rid of mine they are unbelievably crap. ended up with hp slate 10 which is about the same performance but with built in 3g
