Before shelling out the cash for any game these days, the first place I'll hit is YouTube to watch actual "let's play" videos from various people. Just because I'm a grown man doesn't mean I'm happy to throw my money about willy-nilly on something that might look good in trailers, but turns out to be utter tosh in practice. Same with board games and many other products.

It's a bit blinkered to think that only kids would bother to watch videos by actual commentators on games. Hell, Angry Joe throws the F-bomb around like nobody's business. Should he be banned from YouTube because he's making a bad impression on children? Of course not -- they aren't his target audience.

His 'reviews' are great. He goes in depth on how well a PC game runs, whether it has FOV sliders and what graphical options it had etc. and he's pretty bang on a lot of the time about games, knows when one is underrated (like Enemy Front recently) and knows when one is crap, and he's quite often right.

How do you look into getting a game then chap? Do you just go and buy it and hope for the best? :D

Great? He is utter clueless and somehow has made a comfortable living out of it.

He knows less about pc gaming than my mother. He is a ****** of the highest order and oozes arrogance, he has one high opinion of himself too.

That said good luck to him as neither he or his family should have to go through the struggles of cancer.
 
I like TB's stuff. I don't always agree with his point of view, and don't share the same preferences for game genres, but he does at least give good depth to his opinions.

Being a grown man, like Witcher1979 ;) , I have little time for gaming these days (approx 10 hrs per month) so picking which to play is a bigger decision than it might otherwise be - reviews are very handy for picking out the best use of my gaming time. I don't know how you can go without any review source unless you have a ridiculous amount of gaming time with which to blow on all sorts of garbage.

Guy above trying to act the big man. Let him throw away his money on trailers, unless there also for kids. I wounder what he uses to make his choice on buying? If nothing he must buy some junk.

How does he know less about pc gaming than your mother? He's spot on when he speaks about optimisation, fov, framerate etc.

Witcher is a good guy, he's learned how from his many, many, many years on this planet. I'm surprised he can still look at a PC screen at his age though! :eek:

Ignoring what I didn't know, the man speaks 99% the truth about pc games for me and I have used him for review on a game well before all these IGN and gamespot crap
If the game is rubbish he tell it how it is and gives good reason to it.
But yeah as everything, when you giving your own options on something not all the time I agree.

Un-bunch your untercrackers there, I was having a hard time getting the gist of what you were saying, seemingly you've taken a bit more care with this post and it shows in its ease of understanding. But the bottom line is, if your posts aren't clear then it's not really productive to a conversation.

Not trying to be a **** here but if you type your posts out a bit more coherently people are more likely to read them and reply to them constructively.

On topic: Whilst what he said back in '11 was horrid, especially for a 27 year old man, everyone makes silly mistakes and when you get in the public eye it seems everything gets pulled up from the past. I have no doubt in my mind people complaining about the guy have said some silly stuff to people in their past as well. Hope he gets through it as I wouldn't wish cancer upon anyone.
