I would rather go to prison for refusing to take part in national service if it meant joining one of the armed forces.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions of course, but can i ask why?

Perhaps the thought of being used as a pawn in a war against another guy who is in the same position makes him sick.
I think National Service isn't a bad idea, but I don't think that it has to be purely military service. Some kind of public service to instill a sense of national pride, social responsibility etc wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.
Of course, I only say that because I'm too old for it.![]()

As a serving soldier I wouldn't want to work alongside anyone that had been forced to be there.
