Sandybridge to Devils Canyon

I honestly don't think the difference will be worth it. Chances are you'll not notice it.

What spec do you have? Anything else you're looking to upgrade!

Don't see any benefit tbh

In the same boat here albeit a clocked 2600k

Everything is gpu limited I find certainly can't justify dropping serious money on a dc setup

So I spent pocket money on a pentium K and some second hand bits to build the daughter a MItx rig :)

Drop your 2700K to 4.2GHz and see if you can feel the difference between that and 4.6GHz, that's the same as it will feel going from SB 4.6GHz to HW 4.6GHz just in reverse (HW is a up to 10% gain over SB).

SB to IB = 10% and IB to Haswell = 10% so total 20%, but not worth it from my 5GHZ 2770k to the poor 4770k I have.

2500k may be different story as games can use more threads now so HT helps and leave spare to run other aspects outside of the game while you game.

I'm in exactly the same boat. :)

Oh, and I agree. Not really.

Room for one more in that boat of yours?

Except for me it's either Skylake or AMD's brand new 2016 x86 arch.

Will depend on delays and whether AMD can deliver or not. Hope springs eternal ;)

Hmmm, was looking forward to building a new system, having doubts now. :(

Is there any other reason to move to a new system then? This was my plan:

2700K to 4790K
Thermalright Silver Arrow cooler to Corsair H110 cooler
Z68 to Z97 motherboard
8gb to 16gb
Antec 300 to Corsair Obsidian 650D case
New PSU
Extra SSD (at least 500gb, purely for games)
Windows 7 to 8

My current GTX780 graphics card, sound card and SSD/HDDs would be carried over to the new system. I also will be using my current Dell 23" 1080p IPS monitor.

All in all I'm guessing it will cost me about £700 after I sell off the old stuff.

So you guys saying that the CPU upgrade is not worth it. Is there anything else there that would be worth doing this upgrade for?

Might sound a bit crazy, but I'm just a little bored with my current system, had it for ages, does everything I want it to do, rock stable, but boring. Need something to tinker with I guess. :o
