I cant tell either from 3770k @4.8ghz and a 2600k @ 4.5ghz

I know its hard to resist when new tech comes out but the gains would be minimal tbh

more sidegrade than anything tbh. unless you're running tri-sli/tri/quadfire. the sb 2700k will be more than sufficient

Is Haswell 10% faster than IB?

Nope, like I said in post 4 it's a ~5% jump each time. The OP is going to be very hard pushed to notice a difference between 4.6 SB and 4.6 HW as it equates to a real world difference of about 400MHz.

You'd be better off saving up some more cash and going with X99/5820K or 5930K, only trouble is you'll need DDR4 memory as well.

The only significant thing you'll get from going 2700K to 4790K is ridiculously high temperatures...

Seriously, don't bother and wait for Skylake. Treat yourself to a new monitor instead to help cure the itch

I have tons of games I don't play on a perfectly capable computer, yet I want to build a new gaming rig so that I can continue not playing these games.

If that is not insanity, I don't know what is.

I'm going to hang fire and wait for 100 Chipset and Skylake to replace by 2600K SB @4.5 Ghz.

It' does feel slightly unnatural as my last system build was Mar 11 but it still runs like a champ.

Weird ain't it? Never gone so long with the same CPU as this 2500K... and still can't find a compelling reason to swap it out. Want a new build just for something to do, but it's simply not justified by the numbers

I've pepped my system up with a couple of SSDs and a ATI 290x but I would imagine this is the longest I've kept any system.
