Sandybridge to Devils Canyon

wait for skylake cpu's and ddr4

I cant tell either from 3770k @4.8ghz and a 2600k @ 4.5ghz

I know its hard to resist when new tech comes out but the gains would be minimal tbh

You'd be better off saving up some more cash and going with X99/5820K or 5930K, only trouble is you'll need DDR4 memory as well. :)

The only significant thing you'll get from going 2700K to 4790K is ridiculously high temperatures...

... or maybe play the myriad of games collecting dust in my steam library.

I have tons of games I don't play on a perfectly capable computer, yet I want to build a new gaming rig so that I can continue not playing these games.

If that is not insanity, I don't know what is. :D

It' does feel slightly unnatural as my last system build was Mar 11 but it still runs like a champ.

Weird ain't it? Never gone so long with the same CPU as this 2500K... and still can't find a compelling reason to swap it out. Want a new build just for something to do, but it's simply not justified by the numbers :(

I've pepped my system up with a couple of SSDs and a ATI 290x but I would imagine this is the longest I've kept any system.
