Wife is after a new car and has 6k to spend, done this before I know but I think I've found her something, finally

Ex motability 2010 Nissan Note (1.5 dci diesel, she does a lot of miles), top trim level (sat nav, cruise control, air con, alloys, bluetooth something or other and lots of other goodies), has done under 20k miles and is in mint condition inside and out. and comes with an approved used warranty on top of whatever manufacturers warranty is left. Reasonable used cars over here are sparse, especially diesels as they're snapped up by taxi drivers, so for for a shade under 6k would it be a reasonable buy? Cheers.

If she does a lot of miles then I cant help but think there are more suitable cars than a Nissan Note. I had one once as a courtesy car for a few days, a top spec petrol model (air con, privacy glass, nav, bluetooth and so on) but it was still a horrible place to be - very tinny and cheap inside, uncomfortable seats, the gearshift was very sloppy and vague, having the air con made it noticably slower and it was not quick to start with.

I'm not exactly a car interior snob either - I was happy enough with my Mk6 Fiesta ST interior and the somewhat plasticcy MX5 interior now, but I still thought the Note especially horrible and cheap feeling.

It'll be cheap to run mind, and unlikely to go wrong, but I can think of better cars in terms of comfort and refinement for £6k especially for someone who does a lot driving.

I gave it a test drive yesterday and didn't mind the interior, mind you coming from a poverty specced picasso a wheelbarrow would be luxury. I did find the seats pretty comfortable although I was only in it for 20 minutes. Agreed on the gear shift, was like stirring porridge.
