What alloys can I put on this impulse buy

I bought my missus a mellow yellow cab in January.

It is a total girls car, but it's not bad to drive and they really last well.

I agree with everyone, the alloys on it are fine, and suit its target market, if you go bigger, it will look at odds and put of buyers. If you want to harden it up you want to get sportier looking bumpers, small rear spoiler with large alloys, there some good examples on the vw forums, but it isn't cheap.

Worthy things to do:
- I fitted a new unit with iPod/Bluetooth, which sounds a lot better than stock and plays MP3s as well.
- Changed the pollen filter which had a forest load of leaves in it
- used the spray lithium grease to do the hood mechanism/catch and seat mechs
- Got a VW specialist to grease all window runners/guides
- Had a full service inc gearbox oil
- cleaned/reproofed the roof so water now beads off it

Granted you'd with such low mileage is probably good for most of that, replacing the stereo is probably the biggest improvement.

Some good points to look at. Well I guess I'll leave the wheels and get those things done. Not sure what I shall do with it when new car arrives -when I've finally made up my mind- but in any case I can't really lose as I will make money on it.

Thanks :)

In the mean time I'm quite happy driving around in it don't really feel the need to get a car to prove I'm a man. In my experience those that need to do that normally have reason to do so;)

I think that car would look excellent on a set of 22's. You'd barely notice it was a bright red VW Beetle once done.

£400 alloys surely wouldn't be worth bothering with

So out of interest how much is a set worth bothering with ?
I'm guessing the ones that came on it would be around that price. I wouldn't want to put a really expensive set on as all I wanted to do was make it look more tidy as the wheels on it are flaking badly and have a white finish underneath.

And no one as yet seemed to be able to answer what size you could go up to with out problems or adjustments?

If I was going to change I think I would choose same or maybe 17"

Why do think a set of good larger wheels will be worth the same as tatty small ones? How does that make sense?

The fact that I can get a 17" set of wolf race for £379 from wheelbase. 17is bigger than 16" isn't it ?

Ok so by 'good' you meant 'cheap crap with ditch finder tyres'.

I was actually asking what price you would pay for a good set of alloys and maybe a suggestion or two of brands to look for. Just generally something helpful...to much ask I'm guessing ?

Wolfrace, always used to be good as far as I remember. Also I wasn't factoring in tyres on that price;just wheels. I was going to replace tyres anyhow as el cheapo ones had been fitted.

Wolfrace always used to be good if you were a 17 year old with a limited budget and a 'wicked' modified Saxo on your mums insurance.
