Since I bought my X55 for elite dangerous I've been looking onto other sim type games and was wondering if I had missed some options.

I have elite premium beta and I'm loving that,
I have DCS A10C and while I love the challenge and complexity it is somewhat hard to play casually with all the SOI and avionics stuff, I just don't have time to learn all the systems. (oh for the days of single life)
I have MS Flight and the DLC but that's a dead product.
I have War thunder and I'm enjoying it but wish it was modern times rather than historical.

I'm thinking about FC3 and Black Shark as they are 60% off on steam right now but I guess they are going to be more like A10C and a little hard to pick up and play.

Are there any helicopter sims that aren't mega realistic?

FC3 is less technical than A-10 and more accessible casually - Also of note is that you get to fly the Su-25T and P-51 trainer for free in the latest versions of DCS.

FSX gold which has the acceleration expansion has some fun challenges to go with the sim including red bull acrobat challenge I think although you will need impressive CPU power to run it.

If you do fancy going back in time then IL2 Cliffs of Dover is more of a sim than war thunder and has some great fan made campaigns available. I use a warthog which has the same amount of button and switches and it is perfect for full sim WW2 cockpit controls.

Have a look at Thirdwire's selection of combat flight sim games. They use basic radar, so most are based 1950's - 1980's. Wings Over Vietnam 2 is immersive of the lot. Has a big mod community too.

Are you completely ruling out historical flight sims?

Rise of Flight is a free ww1 flight sim that is easy to pick up.
