US: The Last Ship

lol was just googling
hms suffolk was a ww2 ship decommissioned in 1948 so how could they verify the call sign crap in the book? and not realise it wasn't a lie

Well the US ship they are on is also made up, also you realise all those phone numbers that start "555" in US shows/movies are not real either?

well usually shows like this use real world stuff.

obviously not phone numbers since some womans house got hammered with calls thanks to 24 :D

Not sure about this show, I think they are going to have to improve the writing to keep my interest. I like the premise and Rhona does it for me but ever her charms are not enough.

Enjoyed Ep 2. It's not the best show, the writing is a little bit clunky but it seems to have a decent budget and has the Navy onside which is always a plus point. It's only a 'Summer' series so 13 episodes I think. I'll keep watching.

I actually laughed out loud when they were reminiscing about family using photos on their phones and that woman says "it's a selfie". I cant think of any other show that I liked but was so bad at the same time like this

Writing is so predictable and frankly B-movie level, given the size of the budget that it has, they need to hire better writers.

Still, it's quite action packed and fun...until it gets stupid then I'll stop watching.

Not much choice we have with Sci-Fi these days so going to watch it whenever it's good or bad, but there are some idiotic parts in it.

For example the halis chasing the guys on the sleds and missing them all then getting blown up by a rocket then the huge transports flying over the ship and being shot to bits by it's weapons.

Some idiotic things like that makes me cringe.

Actually very dissapointed with this so far idea for the story could be very well done however it seems as if it isnt being done justice. Like someone else said they are still trying to save the human race when 90+% of it is already dead. Realisically i think the goal of the ship should have been changed to their own survival finding a cure for themselfs and then finding survivors / repopulating. However it seems like they have a bit of a hero complex.

Wasn't bad, liked the close up of the guns reloading, pew pew :D
Trademark M.Bay sequences splattered here and there :D Loved the close up of the guns!

I feel the show is promising despite the comical Captain vs Fusebox moment in the first episode. Quite enjoyed that episode and it seems it has a good sized budget to it. That Baldwin guy is in it too which is a bonus.

must be the lowest budget series ever.

all set in cgi land or a studio that looks like a boat

I watched the first ep the other night, I really liked the idea of it but the actual show was a bit too 'woo-haa look how cool the US Navy is!' and some of the acting is really bad...

That bit with the fuse was the worst... "That was badass", no it wasn't, it was stupid and pointless :p

Does it get any better? (thought it might have just been a pilot or something) or should I just not bother watching anymore?
