I'm currently in the market for some new headphones to use on the train on my daily commute and whilst sat at my desk at work. So they have to not be to bulky and with little sound leaking if at all possible.

I currently have a pair of Soundmagic E10's, and whilst they are a massive improvement over the standard headphones that come with mobile phones I feel that I am missing some bass, depth and clarity to my music.

At the moment my music source is a Google Nexus 5 along with Deezer, of which I'm making full use of their new 320kpbs music. I do also have Poweramp that I occasionally use to listen to some flac music with as well.

Budget wise I don't want to be spending any more than £200, and so far have been looking at the following headphones:

Sennheiser Momentum
Philips Fidelio X1
AKG Q701

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

if you don't mind lime green ones Q701 are $159.99 and $12.99 shipping on mass drop for the rest of today. works out about £96

As above, at that price they can't really be ignored. You will need something to drive them though and if you like bass you might need to do that mod to get a little more punch from them.

Forget open headphones.

Firstly no one can make recommendations without knowing your music taste.

My musical taste varies from the likes of Alter Bridge, Avenged Sevenfold, Linkin Park and Papa Roach to Bob Marley, Ed Sheeran, Michael Jackson and Mumford & Sons to Eminem, Jay-Z, Slash, Metallica, Guns N' Roses and Iron Maiden...and pretty much everything inbetween (aside from classical and country).

Look into the ATH A900x.

Good separation, fairly well balanced with goods mids and full extended bass with good body. Easy to drive and comfortable for long listening.

If getting a pair is difficult then alternatives I'd put you towards are

AKG K545
DT770
Yamaha MT220

DT770 would be a good recommendation, nice 'fun' sound signature which is well suited to the rock/metal/hiphop genres you have listed above.

Q701 is a fantastic deal for the price on Massdrop (see the other thread for details) and with some tweaking it can attain that same sound signature but with greater clarity and a wider sound stage. Sans tweaking they are just a bit more neutral in response (personally its what I prefer, but coming from E10s - which have that 'fun' sound signature, you may want to keep it with your headphones).

HD25-1 II is another contender, similar sound to the DT770, but more portable and easier to drive.

I would look into some reviews and comparisons of the above :)
