Good day folks,

Every 6 weeks I got a long weekend off work and I could do with getting away for a bit, need to clear my head and just escape. However not really sure on where to go! I finish work on the Friday so can leave Friday evening to go where ever and need to be back on the Monday at some point. Could be in this country or abroad. Just need some ideas. Don't think I would really mind if it was a city break or some where just to relax in the sun and a pool.

Any recommendations?
Thanks.

I like going to whitby, we've (me and the missus) have gone a few times and its just a nice place to be. Robin hoods bay (nearby) is a great little day out place too.

Stratford upon Avon is good too. :)

Or Cornwall. :)

I always like going to York but thats because its only an hour away on the train. but I just love the place, nice and relaxing and I always seem to find everyone is nice to you

for a few hundred you are stuck within the UK i guess.....

Well flights aren't that expensive to get away some where. I could stretch to more if I liked the look of something. Did look at Cornwall and some of that looks nice. Been to Newquay for boardmasters before so I know it can be really nice down that way.

Same here but I come from Cambridge, still well worth it for me, I love the place. I'd move there if I could.

All over the place. What do you like? Country, City, Adventure?

Did a long weekend around the Nice area last October. Flew into Nice then headed straight out and stayed in a small village and visited all the old hill villages. Alternatively you could go wander round the Dolomites for a couple of days, fly to the Pyrenees, Milan or even spend a long weekend in Romania (we did 5 days but 3 would be fine to go to one or two places). All cheap flights, especially doing a long weekend away from bank holidays.

Then there is Cornwall, go walking on the South West Coast Path and camp on beaches each night (some stunning coast walks especially once you leave the villages behind), a long weekend on Dartmoor, wild camping (train to Ivybridge and then walk to Princetown and down to Burrator before getting the bus to Plymouth and train back).

So many options... :p
