Trip to Chernobyl & Pripyat

I'd do it if I knew someone else that would go with me..

no one I know is spending £800 or whatever the trip ends up costing in total though I doubt they would even pay the pipyrat tour cost
 
Right. I've had a good look and am unsure still as to the October one. I may have to say no to that. This is something that will take a bit of planning and research I think. The tension over there is a concern (not too bothered about radiation scare stories)

At present I will declare a strong strong interest in April
But may have to decline on October
 
I'd be very interested in this but as a photographer would probably get on people's nerves if they aren't like minded.

Are there any other photography minded people going?

Have found same thing going places with non photo people
I would absolutely bring my camera and annoy people

Can't imagine anything worse for either party
People wanting to get on and others wanting to take pics and neither being happy about it

Infact this would be perfect to me as I am very much learning and usually on my own
I would 100pc be up for a photo based excursion

Also a great opportunity to try lenses you may not have

Haha, almost everyone is into Photography. As I said, one guy lugs a Large Format camera with him in the zone, so I would not worry about being the only photographer there.

Total cost is going to be around £650 + spends. Trip is £450 which includes everything except for the flight and Vodka. The Ukraine International Flight I saw last weekend is going for £130 and will probably not get any cheaper than that.
Large Pizza and a couple of beers, few sneaky Vodka will easily cost less than £5.
Don't worry about going on your own! We are a really friendly bunch, we look after each other, and you will not be left to figure out anything on your own!

You jest, but my friend and his new wife are actually honeymooning on this trip!
So, yes it is possible to be romantic and have a trip out to the zone. If they are lucky, they might even get a double bed!

Both times, everyone has got on well, and like I said, the socialising forms a large part of the trip. On the Friday night, everyone goes to a local restaurant called the Gut Hut. There is BBQ pork, home brew vodka and for those who choose to, a Sauna as well. It gets a bit wild with lots of fun and nudity (both male and female!).
