Hi All

I made a Very stupid error.

I accidentally Uninstalled my AMD R9 290 Drivers from device manager.
I got an instant black screen.
Now the PC Will Turn on, however will not get any monitor signal

i have re seated all components(RAM / CPU / PCIe HDD/ GPU)
I have removed the CMOS Battery for 24 hours.

Still no luck.

My Issue is i have a Asus ROG Crosshair V Formula-Z Motherboard which doesnt have onboard Graphics to default to.

Any Suggestions most welcomed.

Thanks
Aaron

OS?
Seems very strange though, it should have just defaulted back to the crappy drivers that come with Windows.
It may just be coincidence that your card died at the same time you removed the drivers.
Have you tried booting into safe mode?

If you boot up without the AMD drivers installed wouldn't you still get a low resolution Windows image? Can you boot into safe mode?

What cable are you using to connect to the monitor?

Im getting NO SIGNAL at ALL. Just Black Screen. But i know its booting correctly as the MOBO has Q code so it goes through the stages.

However it does hang with Q Codes 62 and 66.( completely random, mainly hangs on code 66)

Ive even tried booting from another HDD with the PCIe SSD Disconnected.

Using HDMI

the GPU is sapphire tri-x (290oc)

Sounds like the card is dead to be honest, do you have another machine you can test it in?

@Jason

i get no screen at all so i dont know when to press butons or at what stage the "boot process" is at. only thing i see is the Asus logo when screen is turned on which is unrelated to the PC.

im only glad ive been helping my brother move house last 4 days or this would have p***ed me off a lot more by now lol

Don't know if this might work - borrow a friend's GPU and try it, so you can hopefully use your PC. Re-download the R9 290 drivers. Then try your GPU again.

If it's not even showing the BIOS load up screen when you turn the pc on then it's nothing to do with the drivers.

i never said this is still the issue. Driver removal caused the issue.

I very much doubt it did, as I said earlier it is more likely to be a very strange coincidence that your card died at the same time you were playing with the drivers.
So you need to test the card in another PC or test another card in yours to really get anywhere in finding out what is going on.

From what I can tell q code 66 on an ROGCHFV refers to a memory issue (without checking my manual), I double checked on ROG forums and it seems that if you hang while booting and have a q66 showing you should test the memory using this (http://rog.asus.com/127362012/overclocking/memtest-user-guide-for-rog-motherboards/ recommended by ROG), try reseating your memory and if this fails reset your CMOS with the button on your board and try restarting then.
