Turns out that OcUK forums are blocked by TalkTalk by default for any new customers.

The government is promoting filters to prevent children and young people from seeing content that is supposed to be for over 18s. This includes pornography and sites that talk about alcohol, smoking, anorexia and hate speech.

In practice, filters block many sites that are not harmful to children. Sometimes, they are blocked by mistake. Sometimes, they are blocked deliberately. For example, many blogs and forums are blocked by default.

We tested the top 100,000 sites (as ranked by Alexa at the time) on each of the networks we monitor. We found that just under 19% of these were blocked by default on at least one network.

Are any of your other favourite sites being blocked? You can check here: https://www.blocked.org.uk/

I don't think filters should be enabled by default, if parents want to protect their kids, they can use their own software to do so. What do you guys think?

OcUK is also blocked on the new BT filters on most levels of the filter heh.

Its an utter waste of time as even some of my younger relatives can work around the filters with (suprising) ease :S (actually a little scary as they seem to have more proficiency at working around stuff like that than I do).

You can blame your local elected MPs for this then.. they pressured most of the major ISPs to implement defaulted on filtering.

Madness. You can't even say harmless words like **** and ********** on this forum without them being starred out.

Can't see any forums getting through if OCuk doesn't.

EDIT: Mumsnet is fine though.

Honestly all these security measures are really rather pointless these days. Even if the kids don't know about the block, all it takes is a quick google of 'Why can't I access X site' and there will likely be ways of getting around the block. You don't even need to use fancy stuff anymore, there are websites which do it all for you! I know this is an effort to please more people, but I think sooner or later it's going to backfire bigtime.

So given al lthe children are now blocked from ocuk, does this mean we can have a babe thread again :D

It's probably the porn forum that does it (you need 10k posts)

Nah it's unlisted ;)

Obviously TalkTalk have been reading what happens in this den of depravity and feel the British public would be better served by protecting them from us spreading our vile philosophies elsewhere :p
