Batman Arkham Origins, Should I play it?

I am working offshore, I have my gaming laptop with me, for relaxation in between shifts, I like to game, but only if the game is worth playing, and lets face it, most aren't.

Anyhow, I have Batman Arkham Origins. I got it cheap cos I seen that it got lots of rave reviews. Having played 2-3 hours into the game however, I am finding it a bit of a boring drag. I dislike the hand-lead, restrictive, tap the right buttons at the right time to win gameplay and the general lack of freedom in the game world. The leveling up system just isn't motivating me to care about it at all etc etc.

In short, have I had enough of a taste of this game to know that it is yet another over-rated hyped up p.o.s,.....or, could it be that it is just a slow starter?

This is not an attention seeking thread. I want to know whether I should invest any more time in this game or not in the chance that it might be a slow starter with much more substantial gameplay than is on offer in opening sequences. I don't have time to squander in order to find out that yet another critically acclaimed game is yet again nothing but a pile of horse scheiss.

Life is too short, and my leisure time is too sparse.

Thanks.

It's alright but very 'samey'. it's obvious it was a 'cash-in' while Rocksteady worked on next gen versions. For a prequel it does some very strange things such as knowing moves or having equipment that Batman supposedly learns in Arkham Asylum for example. It doesn't get much better abut I found it fun enough.

I love everything Batman but even I got bored and abandoned it, very much to my absolute disbelief.

When you find out that the dev... na I won't tell you that because it tarnished the entire thing for me. I've seen people genuinely love the game so you might just enjoy it.

Give it a whirl.

I really enjoyed it, it picked up a lot about halfway through.

It can feel a bit samey but that's not a bad thing if you enjoy the series.

Asylum and City are better but Origins is not a bad game if you take it as a stand alone and not part of the actual series. It brings next to nothing new to the table and is essentially more of the same (with a few more bugs)

If you enjoyed the others you are likely to enjoy this but may get bored and leave it before you finish it, I did and then came back to it a few months later and finished it.

Thanks for the tip off! 'Samey', but u enjoyed it it is a good helpful comment for me, as since I am finding it 'samey' and not enjoying it, I think I shall give it a wide berth.

@trentlad: what were u saying about the dev?

It's very bloody adequate. It's not awful but it's not especially good either and it's so obviously a cash in that it sort of make's you feel bad for buying it.

I guess it's subjective really but to me it really wasn't anything special. Reused textures and mechanics from the first two with very little changed and the boos fights are so repetitive and boring.
