Hmm what to do? (autoglass)

Yo

So i have a chip in my windscreen and some very bad scratching which causes very bad glare at night.
(seems previous owner didn't care about wiper blades needing replacing)

Anyway, I booked Autoglass to replace the windscreen but i foolishly told them it was cracked :/

What do i do now?

I was pondering that on the day its due to be replaced i get a small hammer and crack the screen in the corner.

Or do i simply just tell the chap who comes out what i have done and hope he is happy to replace it anyway due to the BAD GLARE.

I dont want to lie to them :(
 
As per the above replies I'd think the boy that turns up will just do it. If you are that worried get the hammer out :D
Being pedantic you've already lied to them, so I wouldn't worry now :p
 
Don't touch it for ***** sake you'll make the blokes job harder.

You want a new screen, You are paying for a new screen, The only thing that will concern the bloke is that you Pay.
 
I guess the question to the OP is has he booked them out to replace the screen and is paying out of his own pocket, or is he attempting to get this done via insurance.
If the latter then they will attempt to repair rather than replace in the first instance. If however the OP is simply paying out of his own pocket for the new screen then he could tell them that he wants it replaced because the current one has some dead insects on.

£75 excess and rest is insurance

They have allready ordered the new glass so im stuck in the situation where i cant now just as for a repair. (no way they can repair it tbh, Large chip in center and Deep scratches all over.)
 
worst comes to worse explain your concerns to the fitter and bung him a cuppa and £20 :)
 
Put a piece of wooden on your screen, hit it with a hammer and it should crack. Saw my neighbour do this on a company car as he had a chip and wanted new screen and not a repair. However, if you paying the excess and rest to insurance I can't see Autoglass not wanting to make a sale of a new screen.
 
The guy that turns up, make him a tea/coffee and a bacon sandwich.

The woman on the phone said she was aware of the Auto Wipers, But said nothing about the Auto lights and Heat reflective coating.

is it best to call them to ask if they know about these things?

I suppose your car has that little patch in the centre that has no coating? If it does it might be worth mentioning it has the heat coating on it.

I've heard of several stories of them coming out with the wrong screen.

whats that patch middle bottom for?

They had no idea about the Autolights lol.
But they are adding it to the order and are reordering the correct glass.
