Confirmed: 4790K chips are the best binned 4770

Interesting... But given the current DC threads, does this mean that all we're really guaranteed is that the low end of the overclock range has moved up, rather than that they're capable of faster speeds on average?

Feel sorry for those that got lemons from the last 4770k batches, almost guaranteed to be crap.

So this means that now and from some time in 2013 when 4790 binning began, 4770's are unlikely to OC as well as may have been hoped.

Yer pretty much. Looking on the forums for the last few months you have seen many (in fact I'd say the large majority) of the recent 4770k batches were struggling to get past 4.3 even with silly volts.

Yup it looks like 4770k was intels biggest scam OC product in history to ME. Basically you had 0% chance of winning a chip lottery. Normally each batch gets better as production process matures. Not in this case as good stuff was swiped off the line for 'NEW' CPUs.
Thats SUCKS !!!!
Alo shows that L3 DC should have some descent clockers.

I had a recent order for a lot of systems using 4770k. In the past running nice and solid at 4.3Ghz with good temps and utmost stability i would probably get about 1/10 that would have issues with this. the latest batches i have received it seems more like 3-4/10 that will struggle to run at that speed solidly and at sufficient air cooled temps.
