CS:GO Discussion

Silversurfer, when you go to Gold Nova, will you become GoldSurfer? :D:D:D

Good idea :D I got upto nova 2 and won a few games but wasnt really comfortable. Im spamming pics or tariks settings because maybe its helpful, I'd have no idea people choose to play at 800x600 if I didnt see that and people have asked for settings before

I put it in spoiler so it can just be skipped.
This guy is lifting the mouse off the pad like 4 times while playing, pointless video maybe but I like knowing that can work

What sense/dpi do people use anyway, Im still way off being happy with mine

These are all pretty obvious things if you put any time into learning something about the game tho :p

I wouldn't bother playing at 4:3 unless you are used to it from other games.

Its not pointless if you are more comfortable with it and play better.

I play at low-medium settings even though I could max it because I find it easier to see people.

Same reason I have my digital vibrance at 100%

I'm not really having any of those issues. What is your ping like because it sounds bad.

Also you said servers, so are you not playing competitive matchmaking?

sorry, downloaded a few games during the sale and torchlight 2 has been taking up a lot of my time :p so completely forgot I posted in this thread!!

thanks for the replies. My ping and Latency are fine, generally between 30 and 60 on the servers that I play.

I play on community servers, haven't done any match making.

My main problem is aim. On source I have brilliant aim, on Go, I can't hit anything.

- Sound is broken. I generally know if they are coming from left or right, but not MUCH more.

- Play competitive MM and put max ping to around 50-70

- You need to practice your aim. Learn recoil and all that and control the gun.

What rank are you? I am GN4 atm, but I fluctuate between GN4 and MG2. MG2+ ranks seem to be quite vast. You find VERY good people in tha rank and very bad people. I still consider the rank 'ok'. A bit above average

I don't know what rank I am, I have never played competitive MM. So sound is bad for everyone? I am really surprised that it hasn't improved in the last year. Surely is must be a major complaint?

Yeah, I have got the recoil and everything fine, I just can't hit anything :D

My frustration is that I am good at FPS games once I get into it and learn the recoil patterns and weapon balances etc. But with CS:GO I am no better now than I was at launch. I don't know how to describe it, it just feels wrong!!

Six new maps to try in competitive , just tried 2 of them out blackgold and overgrown , the first I'm not keen on , didn't feel like your typical cs map, more like battlefield .. The latter was good though , hopefully get to try them all out you don't need to pay for the maps just the other stuff that comes with it :)

Black gold is too cluttered imo. If ti removed all the top railing bits and stuff it would be much better. You have to peek a 1000 corners.

Overgrown is decent. Still it has a lot of corners but it has less. This map actually has flow. It has a lot of flanking routes and stuff. I like this map a lot.

Castle looked allright. The most linear of them all, although mid has a lot of alleys and long paths.

Insertion I tried in DM. Looks a bit like the demolition map that has a small ouse in the middle, just larger. Looked more like a map someone would use in a Hugner Game server rather than competitive. Still didn't play it in competitive so I ain't sure how it plays. Probably terrible :p

I didn't try Rush and Mist yet.

I don't think any of the maps will become competitive maps tbh (ex. cache). I am pleased that cache has become a permanent map though.

Played mist last night it's the same as blackgold really , far too cluttered and as you say too many corners too peek , I also think it's to close quarters and too many doors/levels, you can hear people running around constantly which is not good in competitive ...

I agree about cache though I really like that map

Ugh. They look like CoD maps :(

I used to like the CS maps because they are linear. Look at Dust 2. Probably the best CS map. You only have two ways to B and three to A (Tunnel, Mid; Long, Short, Mid). Also, when you are attacking and you are looking at the site, you basically know where they are. In these maps, you have to look around 180deg and then look at the top raft thingies.
