Hey guys,

My Old AMD build is starting to struggle. I have £1000 saved here for a new build, I'd like to order asap!

I have lots of HDD's so don't need them, also have 2 monitors, mouse & kb and a OS (thanks to work)

I have an SSD but its an old Kingston one so maybe a new one would be better.

The case can be tall but not any kind of cube shape, just won't fit. Not fissed about a window in it but it needs to be fairly quiet.

EDIT: I won'tbe adding another card in in the future so the PSU needs only to cover this system. Another edit, don't need the DVD R/W either
EDIT:600 - I've actually realised, I probably don't need a new case either. Mine is about 4 years old, CM Advanced 2 or something?? But works fine, just a bit scuffed. Could this money be spent better elsewhere?

Thanks

Is it for work or gaming? What games do you like? What are the monitor resolutions? Do you want to game on both of them at the same time?

Hey,

Just for gaming and streaming Media to other devices. I plug in 2 monitors and a tv at 1920x1080. I have an active HDMI to Display port adapter to do this.

I like all types of games, a sucker for the Steam sales!

Thank you for that, I'd be happy with the lower spec card for a more rounded system.

Lovely case, not in stock yet though. Quiet Noctua cooler. Quality 250GB SSD. Motherboard with 5-year warranty. The triple fan cooling on the Gigabyte Windforce GPUs is among the quietest.

Ok, so going to order before 13:00 tomorrow so any more input would be great. I'm perfectly happy with the build Danny posted though.

Thanks

:)

OK 1 pound over as youll get free postage if your in the UK

Is that Intel ssd I linked to earlier any good? It's a little cheaper! But I like this spec, not sure I could get much more for my money?

The intell SSD is descent I recommended the Samsung because I have that exact same model and its a been a pleasure.

But if you want to save more cash and go intel you should be fine :)

that bundle is an awesome deal AND you get an OCUk mug :P

That looks nice, shows in stock for me though??

Weird. Either they just changed it, or clearing cookies updated the info on my browser lol.

The Samsung is newer tech than that particular Intel model. It also handles incompressible data quicker. And its firmware can be updated unlike the Intel model with the Sandforce controller that doesn't allow it. Either should be fine though. But yeah, the Samsung is a bit more quality than that particular Intel model.

There's also a Crucial MX100 256GB SSD with a Marvell and new tech for the same price as the Intel.

GTX 780 GHz model.

A long warranty build. Motherboard - 5 years. CPU cooler - 6 years. EVGA PSU - 10 years.

Now I'm even more confused!

I like the idea of the Bundle posted by Scotsdragon, but then again, is it overkill for Gaming\Media? Quite possibly.

Is that Nvidia card a lot better than the ATI? I have a 5870 currently which has done me very well but have no preference on ATI or Nvidia.

Thanks for all the help so far, lots to think of!

You don't need an i7 if it is just for gaming. If you want to spend the extra, then that is your call :)

1 x Raijintek EreBoss High Peformance CPU Cooler Black £29.99
Total : £892.52 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Large 512GB SSD that will fit loads of games on it. If you want a 256GB SSD then I would wait for the Crucial MX100 to come back in stock, or go for the Samsung Evo.

The Gigabyte Motherboard comes with a free headset.

For a single gpu then 650W is plenty.

The Ereboss cooler is very good for the price. It will cope fine with the i5.

If you have the windowed version of the CM 690II then swap the ram for the Red Vulcan so it matches.

Right, I think I'm settled on some bits.

Some brand of R9 290

Getting there!

A moudular PSU would be nice thinking about it. The case isn't windowed so not fussed about colourts.
