I only ask as I have a soft spot for the phones and wondered if people in here were still using one?

I've not used one myself for a few years (Bold 9900) but I do keep getting the urge to try the Q10. I live the BlackBerry keyboards and it would be nice to give BB10 a shot.

This would only ever be a try out period though, I could never commit to Blackberry long term nowadays due to the lack of an ecosystem. Google, Apple & Microsoft are leagues ahead in terms on ecosystem lock in.

Is Spawn still around this forum? I've not seen any posts from him for a while, he used to be the font of all Blackberry knowledge. IIRC, his brother actually worked for RIM.

It's a shame they were too slow to change, the 9900 should have been released two years earlier and then gone on from there.

BB10 is an awesome operating system that is only getting better. The gesture navigation, hub and multitasking is miles better than anything else on other platforms. There are rough edges and native apps can be sparse, but the Android compatibiity is excellent; any android app bar those that depend on Google Play functions very well. As a pure communications/work tool, nothing comes close to BB10 imo.

I rock a Q10 and plan to get a Passport if I can deal with the size. Big screen qwerty is the dream.

My friend went from an S2 to the Z10 and loves it, although he did miss the Android apps until he learnt how to install them. There are some incompatible apps however due to no Google services but he's made shortcuts on the homescreen that goes to the mobile version of it. BB10 is going in the right direction, I just wish they had more phones like the Torch 9800, portrait keyboard felt more natural when messaging/emails, and the ability to slide the keyboard away when not needed was handy.

Yeah that Passport is something else, never heard of till now, that's what I loved about Blackberry's was the amazing keyboard.

Never tried BB10 though my last BB was a 9900, what a device! dedicated Nexus user now though.

Glad it's not just me who has a soft spot for them! My last phone was the 9900 and tbh it was too little too late with the older OS although I liked the hardware.

Up until recently I was carrying a Playbook got rid to upgrade to something more recent. Again a wasted product as the QNX OS was rock solid.

I do tend to use a lot of Google services but mostly stuff that will play nice like email, calendar etc. Not sure I would miss many android apps, only stuff I use a lot are social media apps.

The Passport looks a bit odd but would be keen to play with one and see if the form factor works.

Switched from a Bold (I forget the number) to a Nexus 4.

Love the larger screen on the Nexus, but man, that Blackberry took a solid physical beating whereas my Nexus shattered at its first light impact.

I recon in terms of typing it was at least twice as fast to write with - I just cannot get Swype to function as flawlessly as that beauty of a QWERTY keyboard.

My mum has a Q10. Now that initial bugginess of BB10 has been ironed out, it's really pretty good.

The new upmarket replacement for the Q10 (Passport) would be my next phone if it had another row of keys and less bezel. Dunno what they were thinking of with the huge bezel and limited keys. Looks totally unbalanced from an aesthetic and ergonomic standpoint.

As it is, I'll probably be selling my Jolla and getting a (probably Meizu) Ubunu Phone in the autumn.

I still have my old one from before the fad (despite my age, I had one quite a while before the fad and the price hike!). I actually really prefer the tactile keyboard and still dislike the touchscreen on my 820 compared.

Great choice, love the look of that, and I can't wait to see Ubuntu on the Nexus 5 fully functional, the dock idea is great as well, put the phone into dock and have a full blown copy of Ubuntu Linux running on a big screen.

I have to say the Bold 9900 was the best phone I've had by a country mile. It just worked. The keyboard was perfect.

The Q20 will be the replacement to the Q10. not the passport. maybe that's what your after.

Not really sure whether there will be a Q20. They do not need a huge spread of phones. There will be the Blackberry Classic, the Passport, the Z30, and probably the Q10. The Q10 is not all in need of replacement spec wise, BB10 is a wonderfully fluid OS.

Yep still here although under a new name now

. Still use Blackberry, tried iphones and Androids and they bored the holy hell out of me. Im now using the Z30 which is more than capable for me, can load up android apps and they run pretty well on the Z30. Although the future BB10 phones will have the amazon apps store pre-loaded on them so even more choice for apps.

Next BB phone for me is the Passport which looks to be a pretty decent phone, large screen with a keyboard. As much as i love my Z30, i really do prefer keyboard phones but the Q10 didnt do anything for me. Also there is the new BB classic phone that will be coming out later this year which brings back the toolbelt as they were on the older BB's but the classic will be running BB10 OS.

As for my brother, he no longer works for Blackberry anymore. He has his own very successful backup solution company that he is now busy with.

But for me i will not ever use any other phone than a Blackberry, id even go back to my 9900 if i had to.

Q20 = classic. I'm tempted to pick up a Q10. saw one for £99 today. really want something with a keyboard. At that price its worth a try.
