Rolf Harris arrested on sexual charges

Be out in 28 months then.

21 months, I think.

Some of the sentences run concurrently, some consecutively so that the total sentence he was given isn't actually the duration of his sentence.

edit: maths failure. 5 years 9 months is the consecutive total and he will be out in 34.5 months

How do you figure that? He'll get parole in 2 years probably... And he looks in pretty good shape for his age. Wouldn't be surprised if he lives to his late 90s.

He's ruined the childhoods of numerous girls (most likely way more than he was charged with). How the hell is 2 years in prison an acceptable punishment?

Very sad it took this long to get the sicko convicted

You can't give someone more jail time because they "probably did other things" if they weren't convicted of them.

Considering the lack of evidence I'm not going to bother defending him but I'm also not going to waste any time being angry either.

If the mods find this distasteful then by all means delete it :)

The sentencing seems a bit hilarious. Out in 3 years for good behaviour? His victims have pretty much had a life sentence.

3 Years pretty much is a life sentence.

He's 84 years old!

It will destroy him and shame his family, and he's lived to see it.

If only they had got Saville earlier.

Not much justice for the victims is it?

And does that mean that if you are a paedo all you have to do is avade capture and prosecution until you are in your 80s and you only get 3 years for good behavior?

Less than 3 years for rape, wow, it seems like year on year the sentences handed out are lesser, presumably due to reduced prison space.

Totally destroying the man isn't justice?

He will be spat at, and shunned wherever he goes. He's 84 years old, I'm sure this was taken into consideration by the judge.

What would you suggest? Death by boxing Kangaroo?

Totally destroying him? Lol, he's spending a little time in prison not going to the concentration camps.

When did he rape someone?

He was convicted of sexual assault which outside the legal definition is often referred to as rape or molestation. It's really semantics though, 3 years for what is legally considered "sexual assault" is insufficient.

He was a well respected person - pride of Australia at one point.

His name is now associated with the lowest of the low.

The stress alone will finish him off at 84.

You want to make peace with the world in your final years, even his family will treat him with disdain.

He's got his punishment and he takes it to the grave.

Which is more than can be said for Saville, the monster.

Conviction is not punishment.

He should be told that he will never leave prison for the rest of his natural life. Age should be irrelevant. The sentence should match the seriousness of the crime which IMO it does not.

The law should be there to dissuade people as well as to punish.

True.

In Rolf's case it won't matter IMO.

It's one and the same thing.

3 years or 30 years, I doubt he will see much life outside of prison now.

Massive difference between sexual assault and rape.

I think anyone who has been in a nightclub has been sexually assaulted at some point.
