Asus R9 270X - No signal

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P
CPU: AMD Piledriver FX-4 4300 3.80GHz
RAM: TeamGroup Elite 8GB 1600MHz
PSU: Antec Neo Eco 620w

So a friend of mine bought these parts from Overclockers, including the Asus R9 270X and we got down to building it. Everything seemed to power up fine, all fans spinning, drives working, but the graphics card doesn't appear to be outputting any signal. Naturally I tried a different graphics card and the other PCI-E slot on the board, but no dice. We then sent the whole motherboard bundle back to Overclockers for testing, but they sent it back saying that it was fine. At this point, I'm pretty stumped. Can anybody here offer some insight?

Cheers.

If they graphics card is fine, then the mobo cpu and ram are fin the only 4 things its be (in my mind) are

1. dodgy adapter
2. dodgy cable
3. dodgy monitor
4. dodgy auto detect (do you have a source button on your monitor set it manually)

does they monitor only support VGA connector?

PSU is a likely candidate, or mobo compatibility with the graphics card though seems not that likely especially having tried a second card, or something shorting out somewhere. Have you got a speaker to hear any error beeps?

Have you tried taking it out of the case, building on a cardboard box with just mobo, CPU, RAM & GPU, no drives etc to minimise what you're checking at once?

I checked the compatibility list, the mobo is on it. Just tried it on a cardboard box, same result. Haven't got a speaker unfortunately.

Dumb questions time, just in case. Is your cable plugged into the DVI-I connector on the card (usually the one in line with the HDMI and Displayport connectors) and not into the DVI-D connector (the one on slot 2 on its own)? Is your motherboard running the latest BIOS?

Pretty sure it doesn't have one, but if the 270X has a dual BIOS switch, have you tried the other BIOS? If it's there, the switch will be a tiny one next to the Crossfire connector, but pretty sure the 270X doesn't have one.

It was definitely plugged in to the DVI-I, I've tried both ports with a monitorthat has DVI support. I'm not sure about the mobo BIOS but it was bought from Overclockers very recently. I don't have the card to hand just now to check for a BIOS switch but I'll check ASAP.

This is a video of the issues that we've emailed to Overclockers tech support:

Hows it going any progress?

Well I have a red face and dented pride, but a functioning machine. Turns out that the 4-pin CPU power connector not being plugged in was exactly the problem. Schoolboy error, you wouldn't think I've been building PCs for 4 years. Thanks a lot to everybody who took the time to contribute :)

Really glad you got it sorted. As for the red face, don't worry - we've all been there. I've swapped out a PSU from a build once because it wouldn't power on before I thought to flick the 1-0 switch to "on", and recently left an i7 idling at 60C because I forgot to remove the plastic protective sticker on the bottom of the cooler before I fitted it.

Most recent mistake I made was I watched some blokes video of their PC issue and completely failed to spot one of the power connectors wasn't plugged in! Fortunately Scotsdragon spotted it, but I missed it completely.

Just glad the PC's up and running mate. Enjoy. :)
