Crysis 3 Poor Performance; AMD 14.6 Beta

Hi,

My friend is experiencing issues with Crysis 3 specifically running the AMD 14.6 drivers, we have tried the 14.4 before and they're the same.

He has a ASUS R9 290, games like Battlefield 4, Tomb Raider, Lost Planet 3 are all working fine.

Are there any issues with these drivers and Crysis?

Can you be a bit more specific about the problems your friend is having. System specs, settings used, frame rates etc.

Don't know what "issue" are you refering to, but Crysis 3 is much more demanding the those other games you mentioned...

If your friend is expecting same frame rate as BF4 in Crysis 3, it is not going to happen...

Worth saying that even with 2x780 the first level runs like pants for me even though the fps says 60 it still feels like its chugging. IIRC its the ropes in the background that cause issues. Once I get into level 2 it runs like a dream

Working fine for me in crysis 3.

Sorry, it just won't utilise the graphics card, checking the usage of the card its sitting at 0%-1% then spikes to 100% then back down, in game it's just a lag fest running at 10fps or less.

Specs are:

Intel 2600k @ 3.8ghz
AMD R9 290 @ Stock
16GB Kingston 1600mhz

Not sure why it's having performance issues, when everything else is OK.

This is half way through the campaign, it just runs like a dog, even when the settings have been slashed down the lowest, still the card isn't utilised.

Ah. Not too sure then. Have you tried using DDU to do a clean install of all drivers then start again?

Had done earlier, same performance, have no idea!
Trying a re-install of the game now, just baffled as everything else works.

Although I did the repair option earlier to no avail...

Not sure how this will help?
All other games on par with Crysis are working OK, (Metro series).

It's worth a try.
I just tried it with a single card @stock and the cpu clock is the only real difference between our setups afaik. Worked fine (High/2xMSAA).

Well,

A fresh install has fixed the issue!
Which has confused me, but seems logical, really got no-idea what happened.

We thought it was a driver issue as he's had issues with another 'engineer' installing Nvidia drivers on his AMD card, so I've sorted that and saw Crysis 3 running terribly, seems the game just needed a re-install.
