Nice looking car Yas786 and sounds like you got a good deal too!
Good luck with the interviews.

Thanks mate :), yep was quite surprised at how well i was treated by the dealership but they owed me big time as originally the car i wanted to buy, a golf GT TDI...they cocked up and gave it to another dealership. But soon as they showed me this one, it was a no brainer as originally i wanted to buy a GTD but not at £30k lol.

think the GTD is one of the only golfs id own, really like them and still sensible :)

Yep i loved the car as soon as i saw it and took it out for a drive. Quite lucky to get one fully specced up as there is a 2-3 mth waiting list for them from the factory.

Grr I hate German cars! You should drive a allied car

Lol:p

£32k list price on a golf wtf

Nice car, but I don't understand the pricing either. Then again I don't drive so I don't really understand.

But surely there are better cars out there for that kind of money? I'm not hating by the way.

Are there better cars out there for that kind of money these days?

Yes... BMW 1-series & 2-series

Yep believe it or not but i didnt pay anywhere close to the list price ;)

Which i did look at and test drove before i decided on the Golf GTD. Not a huge fan of them anymore especially with the new shapes they keep coming out with. To me they look bland on the outside and bland on the inside...nothing exciting about them and sure i could get one for the same price as the GTD but at a basic spec. This particular GTD that i bought came with a few extra options ie leather seats, sat nav, uprated sound system which took the price to £32k but i only paid £26k for it.

Ill probably keep this for a couple of yrs then sell it or trade it towards a new Golf R.

If the Golf R is ultimately what. You want why not just buy it in the first place? Your budget would have got you one.

That's a nice deal, enjoy the car and good luck with the interviews. :)

The haters deserve something a little more stronger than that. :D

Thanks Cosimo, i did think a few times whether it was worth it but in the end i thought it was...as they you only live once.

And thanks again for the luck on the interviews, pretty sure ill nail them and have a job soon enough...13 yrs of IT experience must count for something lol.

Is that radar in the lower grille?

Although with that money I'd be opting for something more like this

Thats the ACC aka adaptive cruise control which is pretty damn sweet when activated.
As for that Skoda?? im not a fan of saloons and neither am i a fan of Skoda's either.

Sweet car, but I couldn't bring myself to buy new, driving it down the motorway be too concerned about getting stonechips in the immaculate paintwork. :p

Meh even on a used car there is always the danger of stonechips...if it happens, it happens. Sometimes it just cant be avoided.

Sorry to hear about the job Spawn.

Also, you should have bought a Scirocco, that's what the cool kids drive ;)

LOL im not cool enough to be driving a Scirocco as much as i like them lol. Plus the one i looked at, i couldnt get it in the spec i wanted or price.

Only got this GTD at the price that i bought it for because of the dealer cocking up the original car i was going to get.

1. It's a Hatchback.
2. It shares a platform and most of the major mechanical parts with the Golf (and Audi A3, Seat Leon etc).

I guess Skoda snobbery didn't die out 10 years ago.

It's the same car

But cheaper, assembled with more care and with nicer dealers.

I'm not taking a pop at the Golf, they're a very nice car. I owned two of the earlier models myself. Aside from a lottery win I couldn't justify spending the extra cash on the VW version now.

Have you actually driven one?

Seats (as in things you sit in, not company Seat) are not shared with the Golf range, that's for sure... Golfs are a heck of a lot more comfortable than even the paradoxically named "Superb"... horrible cars.

Nothing to do with the name... they are cheap, tacky and incredibly uncomfortable to spend any time in.

Just because they may be mechanically similar, does not mean they are anywhere near the same... I never want to get in one again... and that was a well specced one earlier this year... the Golfs are much more comfortable
