*** Nokia Lumia 930 ***

Sounds like its going to be this month, looks like certain companies in europe are taking orders.

O2 this morning told me they are expecting shipping dates very soon.

The thing is that they keep doing it. I haven't been following phones that closely recently, so I was surprised to find that it's not released, I thought it was out months ago, but only announced as it turns out.

They keep doing this. It means the hype of launch is dying by the time its actually released. 2-3 weeks between announcement and worldwide release is what they need to target.

Well my 920's up for renewal in September, got it on release day, hope there's something special on the horizon as the 930 doesn't do it for me, and I'd like a phone a tad smaller than a 920, or max the same size.

Now that Nokia are under the 'control' of Microsoft, I had expected better things from them!

In the 'old days' they had a nasty habit of getting everyone excited about a new phone, and then making them wait for ages for it to actually be available for purchase... with very little (if any) information being available in the mean time!

930 was announced before Mas took over so you can't really blame them. However it is extremely poor show and I wouldn't be surprised if this continues.

We finally get a UK release date.
17th of July.
No sim free price, but free on contracts from £33 a month, also comes with £130 of free stuff for first two weeks

Still launching under the Nokia brand, the Lumia 930 will go on sale in the UK on 17 July, Microsoft confirmed today. It will be priced from £33 per month on a contract at retailers and networks including EE, Vodafone, O2, Carphone Warehouse, Amazon and Tesco.

The device comes with a wireless charger as standard, but for the first two weeks on sale, the Lumia 930 will come with a bonus bundle of free kit. Customers will get a portable wireless charger, Bluetooth speaker and a £20 voucher for the Windows Phone app store. Microsoft says the bundle is worth £130 in total.

Wait, so this phone is not even out yet, whats the hold up, given the L630 is out with W8.1 and the hardware has been ready for a long time e.g. Not a brand new camera/soc/screen.

Thanks for the update Glaucus... I know that today (7th July) had previously been mentioned as a possible launch date, but it is good that they have finally announced an 'official' date for it to go on sale, here in the UK.

It looks as if it will be launched in several European countries (including France!) later this week but, as has already been mentioned, it looks as if we will have to wait until next week (Thursday 17th July) to get our hands on one. I am tempted to go for the 'sim-free' option, and assume I will also get the initial 'free' extras?

You can pre-order them now on the Carphone Warehouse site :)

Free wireless charger, free wireless speaker, £20 Windows Store Voucher and £100 cashback... thats not bad at all.

Thanks for the info, but I will probably wait until a few other suppliers, such as the rain forest site for one, reveal their sim-free prices.

I'm torn on this. I'm waiting for the rainforest too, but I'm also mindful that Microsoft probably have a load up there sleeves before the end of the year not to mention the iPhone 6 now not far off.

The extra's do sweeten the deal but I'm unsure of how much for me. Does anyone know how the extra's are deployed ie with the phone or a redeemable voucher or something?

Could get the 930 and upgrade to the new thing when MSFT drops it in the fall. I'm guessing we should expect newer silicon, better camera tech, and some other nice upgrades.

iPhone 6 will be much faster silicon wise, the S800 ~ with the A7 so I'm guessing the A8 will destroy it. But the rest is all subjective, metal vs metal+plastic build, iOS vs WP. Apps will be better and 3rd party accessories market. But as a whole I think if you want an iPhone 6 then might not be best to get a 930.

... but then of course for those folk who either don't like, or who are just not fans of Apple products, then the 930 is at least worth a serious consideration.

Not forgetting either the Android vs Windows considerations either, and the fact there are almost certainly some 'upgraded' or improved Android phones in the pipeline anyway, makes the decision harder still!
