The Great British Sitcom - Recommendations

A few have already been mentioned but these are all in me collection ( I love a good sitcom):

Dads Army - "They don't like it up em!"
Black books
Open all Hours (classic Ronnie Barker)
Vicar of Dibley
Blackadder
Red Dwarf
Father Ted
Spaced
The Good life
Some Mothers do ave um (I don't think I have spelt that correctly at all)
Britas Empire
Goodnight Sweetheart
Only Fools and Horses
Porridge
Dinnerladies (Can't forget this at all!)

Honerable mention to (I don't have these...yet)

One Foot in the Grave
Yes Minister (And Yes Prime Minister)
Keeping up Appearances
Fawlty Towers

The thread has grown from the original remit of wanting 'recent' sitcoms to naming the best ever British sitcoms - which is a good thing. Keep them coming.

Out of all of the clasics listed there are very few that I haven't seen (certainly not all episodes).

Back on recent sitcoms, is anyone watching Friday night dinner? The whole premise is just a family with two grwon up boys getting together every Friday night. I like it, mainly, it has to be said, for Mark Heap as the odd next door neighbour.

The Office is definitely the best (IMO).

Every suggestion here has been very good.

I'll also add 'My Family'.

Robert Lindsay is great.

The episodes with Nick were the best. It got insanely bad when he left although when the annoying Phoebe-wannabe character and her boyfriend aren't in it, it's still quite good.

Excellent thread OP, picked up some great suggestions from here.

Few of mine that haven't been mentioned;
Fresh Meat
Outnumbered
Snuff Box
Extras
Life's Too Short

[Non-UK]
Trailer Park Boys (needs an honourable mention)

Fresh Meat is ace! And after recently seeing some episodes of Phone Shop (having originally avoided it), I was surprised that it is actually funny (perhaps just because I once worked in one).

No 'allo 'allo mention, I know it's not at all recent but still so funny.

I agree with others in the thread, coupling was great.

Coupling, Coupling, Coupling. The pilot episode is little slow (as most are), but stick with it (until Jeff leaves at the end of series 3). Afterwards they started getting a bit desperate trying to cover the void he left. Still a couple of good episodes in series 4, but it's just not Coupling anymore.

As awesome as Jeff is, my favourite parts are Steve's random rants (notably cushions) and of course Lesbian Spank Inferno.

And not really a sitcom but brilliant Monty Python-esque silliness - Look Around You ( series 1 is my favourite )

Look Around You was utterly brilliant. During quiet lessons or when part of the class is out one of our science teachers occasionally puts an episode on and just waits to see which kids catch on first.
