I'm suprised I haven't seen a thread on this yet. I'm also quite suprised it doesn't have a lot of coverage. For example today's headline on the BBC is about Afghanistan.

Is this just the tip of the iceberg? Should we expect more than the 20 suspected peadophile MPs to be exposed?

I doubt it. the media focus seems to be strangely on old, has been, career over, celebs, whilst any people who are currently in the limelight (ie celebs/mp's/lords etc) seem to have no coverage at all.

Very odd......

I find it more than suspicious that a dossier containing information about paedophile MP's which was in the possession of MP's at Westminster, has gone missing. Looks to me like someone is trying to cover up their past.

I was listening to Radio 4 most of yesterday evening whilst doing some late night wallpapering and this was starting to filter into the news, especially after Theresa May's statement.

I'm personally starting to get a bit tired of all this now. I'm not personally being insensitive, at least i don't think so, I just don't know where it will end and i do think it is becoming a Witch hunt now.

I fell sorry for the victims, I just don't want to hear/read the sensationalist headlines anymore. Saville, Rolf et al its all getting sadly dull.

Yeah that comes across insensitive now :(

MP's are immune to the law. It's nothing personal they're just better people you filthy peasants.

But seriously, I'm constantly disgusted with how much is covered up and brushed over in politics. I don't know whether it's the funny handshake brigade, stakes in the media, general power or what.

They think the same thing happened with the CPS; one looks dodgy, two looks a lot worse.

Nick Clegg looks the most uncomfortable in all of this.....

There seems to be lots of Labour supporters crying from the rooftops about this, I have a feeling it may come back and bite them in the arse.

Surely the natural end will be all those who had sexually abused & raped children received the appropriate punishment & are no longer put into positions where they are able to still.

I agree that the media dramatises it (it looks a good scandal & adores the prospects of seeing celebrities fall from grace - this situation is a match made in heaven for them), but I don't think that should detract from society addressing some severe problems related to how a number interact with children.

These kind of things tend to hurt the incumbent more, but yeah - this kind of thing isn't going to be isolated to any one side of the political spectrum.

tbh I am fed up hearing about it too so you are not alone on this. FAir enough these folks should be punished. But don't ruin a perfectly good day with more pedo news.

It will end up a load of disgraced, sick old men half of which are probably dead.

Did you hear the old chief whip interview who said he would try to help problems disappear to maintain the party face. Problems such as stories about "you and little boys" in the press (paraphrased)

I seriously think a certain deviant type of person is more likely to go into politics or religion to mask their shame or to further their ability to fulfill their desires, or maybe it just goes to their head and they think they can get away with it....

I blame public schools too... because.. i can :)

That's why they throw out the sacrificial lambs first.
None of these people is still in a position of power or influence, so a lot of people don't really care.

It's no coincidence - it's all one big old-boy's network, from your local council up to the PM's office.

“At least a sizeable minority of normal males would like to have sex with children … Normal males are aroused by children.”

Natural and normal they say? Somehow, I don't think so.
It's also missing the point. If the attraction is naturally occurring or not isn't really the key factor.

A child is incapable of giving consent & in any way acting upon those desires (either by viewing material of a child being abused) or partaking in abuse (children are incapable of giving informed consent) is harmful.

All that study is really saying is, "paedophilia is not that uncommon" which is both depressing & believable in equal measure.
