Ok so in my back up pc I have a Saphire Radeon 5770 with a gig of ram on it. In my main pc I have an msi Geforce GTX 560 ti twin frozr II with 2 gig.

Now I think my Radeon is throwing up errors and need replacing. I was wonder what a cost effective replacement (and may be a little improvement) would be?

I also wonder if my money would be better spent upgrading the twin Frozr and putting that one into my back up pc?

Suggestions?

BAckup pc is an intel core 2 duo e6600 on an asus p5b deluze running 4 gb ram from a 600w seasonic s12.

MAin pc is in my sig! Both need upgrading later on!

People talk about this second hand stuff, and a Member's Market? but I can't find it. Or do they just mean ebay?

I normally only buy firsthand stuff but I'#m poorer these days...

DO you think these options present vastly better value for money (in terms of longevity and performance) than simply replacing the HD 5770 with something like the 7770 for £65?

Most cost effective card is a 270. It's exactly the same core as the 270x just clocked slower... so you can overclock one to the same speed as the 270x

4GB of VRAM is overkill for a card at the performance level of a 270/270x.

The other alternative is an R9 280, which can be on offer here for around £150 (one was recently).

Read the FAQ ;)

Thanks MagicBoy and sorry for failign to RTFM

1000 posts? ah man...

I'm trying to get to 100 without becoming king spamalot!! lol

It says in my UserCP I've been a member for like 3 years so that bit is taken care of!

Edit: ahh no that is my overclockers id... gosh... sigh... :(

JonSmith,

Do I need a funky new mainboard to overclock the gpu or can I do it some other way? I'm not sure my asus p5b deluxe will let me do much to overclock the gpu?

GPU overclocking really does not depend on the motherboard at all.

And if you want to get your post count up as high as possible the GPU forum is the place to be, just hop into an AMD vs Nvidia thread and join in the arguments! :D

But wont everyone not jsut realise I'm talking for the sake of it? I mean it's not like I do too much of that really...

I'm such a Newbie though I can't find the FAQs... :(

Also hasn't the weather been humid and I can't believe I need to fix my washign machine later today!..

:D

Back on topic, how do you overclock the gpu then? via software? (I think I overclocked one of my first Agp cards aeons ago but only by a fraction.
