What you have described isn't jealousy or envy though. That's the issue. A bad choice of words perhaps.
As Martini says if people were that jealous of it they'd have got an AMD card. And as AMD cards are generally cheaper too...

That's a different argument to being jealous / envious of something though. If one was jealous, one would obtain.

Yeah, I'm really not getting the jealousy accusations either. If I wanted to try out Mantle I'd just get a 290 or something... But, as it happens, I'm not that bothered and I'd rather wait for DirectX 12 and not support something which would lead to more industry fragmentation.
i wasn't attempting to describe jealousy and envy, i didn't think ppl needed a description to understand their meanings.
but as the post said these 2 emotions might have been the main reason for someone that allegedly doesnt care about "A", to foster enough anger or hate towards "A" to spend his time and effort trying to be sarcastic and condescending toward "A"( because thats not logical)
and saying it was just a joke, i disagree with that, puting this into context, this is a clear sarcasm not a simple joke, and sarcasm comes with baggage that jokes doesnt have.
yes ppl might buy Nvidia for any reason, might buy it for higher price, just makes it even more of an issue for them, when they think that a feature is good and they are paying more for the premium quality, and yet they dont have it.
as an exemple this can lead to what i said earlier, because if you think about it, and you wanna understand the state of mind of the writer before he posted, the majority of you will come to the same conclusion as me, you could find other reasons, but in the end the one i posted seem the most likely.
another exemple, all Nvidia users who today say that Mantle is an aweful idea, if Nvidia announces tomorrow something similar, they will do a Uturn, and say that it's the best idea.
i could be wrong...but i think im right xD

Can't wait myself. I only just played the witcher 2 last month and was very impressed. The third is shaping up to be even better.

Not unless AMD will be supporting NVidia/Intel etc and making Mantle backwards compatible with all previous DirectX games.
AMD can't even make Mantle work with their own older cards so there's fat chance of either of those things happening.

We already have DirectX, Mantle came after DirectX. DirectX 12 is just an update to an existing API 'brand'.
You're missing the point. Being sarcastic and condescending (even if true) does not imply jealousy or envy especially in this situation because as I say if the people were that bothered they would have bought a card with Mantle. It's that simple.
Basically you were talking nonsense and trying to make out people were jealous and envious. You were wrong as there's no connection between the thing you are linking those feelings to. Others have said the same.
I haven't got any interest in engaging on different points so have ignored those purposefully.

Mantle can be compatible nvidia and intel, it's up to them to pick it up if they want.
mantl isnt compatible for older AMD cards, for a very simple reason, not worth the resources put in it, why put support for cards that are dead and bound to be inexistant within 2 years, doesn't make sens.

yes i agree with you, it doesn't mean jealousy or envy necessarily, although in this specific context, this seem to be most likely is jealousy & envy.
i am curious of your point of view on this, explain to me the psychological state of mind of the writer when he wrote the thread, what was he hoping to achieve according to you ?
