Just had this little chap come down the chimney, any idea what bird it is? He won't fly away! I've put him in a cardboard box for the moment out of the way of cats, I have a feeling he's a juvenile. Not sure what to do

It's a Swift. There wings are too long for them to take off from the ground so if he's OK and capable of flying then you might need let him fall from your hands.

Cookie goes to this man, wouldn't fly from my hand but I placed him on top of my wood shed, made his own way a few minutes later

Swifts are awesome. They fly all the way from africa without landing and fly for like 200 days without landing in any nest while they're in Africa. It's mental.

We had the same last month with a larger bird behind the gas fire so I phoned a gas safe registered guy to come out at 6:30 the following day to free it as I could hear it squawking.

When I got home at half 5 I opened the door to find the bird dead in the hallway. In the living room I found the gas fire hanging off the wall by the gas pipe and a rather sheepish looking dog sat at the other end of the room waiting to be told off.
