This is more of a question about usb 3.0 as both have these feature but there is no/couldn't find the pins that connect the front i/o usb 3.0 on the motherboard :/. Any idea where or possible way to use the front usb 3.0?

I just had a quick look at motherboard layout and it doesnt seem to have the usb 3 connector on the board. I doubt the cable would help since the header on the motherboard would be a usb 2 type. I suppose the cable could make use of the front usb ports but not usb 3 of course.

I'm thinking that with the MSI 990fxa-gd65 only having two USB 3.0 ports, they'll be on the back I/O panel and it won't have a mid-board header.

Not sure if this would do. Check your case's cable for male/female compatibility with this:

Thanks for the link, yeah sucks that it doesn't have a 3.0 header so it'll turn out as 2.0 instead. But hey its better to be 2.0 rather than being a useless ports.

Thanks.

Very true, although in another post someone suggested a usb 3.0 pci card with a header for the case. maybe you should look into it?

I googled usb 3.0 pci card with header and it showed quite a few
