NVIDIA Moving Around the Fabled GeForce GTX TITAN II

Serious question since nobody mentioned what I said the first time, is there any evidence to suggest that these are not simply chips for Quadro/Tesla/Other workstation cards and have absolutely nothing to do with Titan II?

nvidia need to be very carefull how they make and present the next titan, another failure will kill once and for all the Titan brand they spent so much time and money in.
if the perf isn't high enough, it will fail.
if the price is too high, it will fail.
the TitanZ disaster didn't leave them a lot of room to jiggle in, better take a year or so and launch a titan only when they are sure of their product, this is why i find this news unlikely, they are better off waiting for 20nm or even 1st GPU 16nm.

They don't need to be careful at all. People are still buying Titan-Z. The amount of times NV have released a duff dual GPU card doesn't bare thinking about. In fact the only decent one they've ever made is the 690.

Has no bearing on the Titan brand really if you know what you're looking at

I think those chips are already out. I am sure I read a few weeks back that the Tesla/K chips were out and being worked but looking for the article brings up nothing familiar.

600mm^2 is actually less than 10% larger than GK110.

GK110 is not a dense design like GM107 or hawaii are. If Nvidia does the same density increase as they did with GM107 you could fit around 30% more transistors on a 600mm^2 die than you can on the 551mm^2 GK110 die.

So no real disaster then just your opinion?

well yes and no, i have an opinion that i consider built on solide ground, that most ppl using logic, will come to the same conclusion.

hard to argue that the TitanZ, isn't a disaster in a gaming perspective, it's praticaly the Worst informed choice a gamer can do, in the history of gaming GPU value perf/$ .

and Cuda, i do not consider it a sucess at all, if apple sells 10mil mac, then says that the OSX is successful because 10mil user installed it, it would sound stupid to you does it not ?

titanZ sells in a market that has no competition, i dont consider the sale of a titan for cuda purpose is a success, rather a simple paying service offered by a vendor, who has a monopole over what you can use.

the success here is on the software, how they make cuda a choice for the users.
personaly i would never lock myself into a single vendor letting him to chose to rape me raw or be gentle and use some vasiline, maybe cuda users really have no other choice software wise, or the alternative impact their production, then i would understand why they picked it.
so bottom line is : is the TitanZ was a disaster in all aspects, imo.
and it being sold for cuda doesnt make it a success if the user have no choice on the matter in the 1st place.

just what?

sorry my post is confusing to you ? point me on what you need me to expand on, or rephrase to make it clear, i know my english sux, been given the remark many times, sometimes i just dont seem to spot the errors if not pointed out to me.

It's not just the English, I can decipher the points you've made but it sort of contradicts your point of it being a disaster.

You speak about software locking people to a vendor, what about those who like Mantle on AMD? Aren't they doing the same thing.

The reason the card is priced high is because it does offer that compute performance to those who wish to use it, otherwise nvidia would be pricing themselves out of their own quadro range if they offered it for a great deal less.

I think we all know it isn't a card 99% of us gamers need nor want, but nvidia clearly think it has a purpose somewhere in the market and they usually aren't wrong. Not many thought the original TITAN would sell well to gamers but it did.

i dont contradict myself at all, at least i dont see it :p
no it's not like Mantle, but i dont want to expand on this because it's irrelevant here anyway, and will shift the topic.
yes the TitanZ has a market, one that is 100% Nvidia, what ever nvidia offers is what is used, so evaluating the titanZ sales as a success in this market is wrong.
and yes the original Titan had a success, the black a little less, the Z complete disaster.

We'll all let you continue believing that then if it helps you sleep at night :D

If it was a complete disaster it would be discontinued already.
