OK spec me

Your sound card will power the X1 with ease.

Thats good to know, :D sound card also supports, dolby headphone I read a review on the x1 and it's meant to work very good with dolby.
Think I'll pick headphone up and then. Go from there.

MMight even still get the sound blaster, like the sound of THX

In Dolby headphone I would say it does the job. It isn't as airy or as spacious as any of the AKGs. The X1 has a boosted bass and treble. I don't rate it very highly but a lot of folk on here like them so just taken opinion as exactly that. I think what they do well is have a full bodied bass and sound quite open. I do think they for your taste but I think the Q701 is the better headphone and even more so with the Annie or 712 pads.

Plenty of opinions out there on the X1 the majority of them positive. For me the bass and treble are perfect, bass hits low and hard, this with a great sound stage really adds to the immersion in games and movies but it is also articulate enough to make music a great listen.

I must say that replacing the cable and after 50+ hours run in the X1 has only got better.

I seen someone else talk about replacing the cable why is this?

Higher than normal resistance on the stock cable can cause looser and slightly muddy bass.
I bought the £5 KabelDirekt Pro Series 3m cable and I think it's an improvement over stock.

Ok so the Philips are out the list, :( Sound Leakage is a big issue for me. Shame really because everything else that had to offer seem to fit the bill perfect.
