FIFA World Cup 2014 - Final & 3rd Place Play-off [12th - 13th July] **spoilers**

I think Germany will win but I don't mind either way.

The result against Brazil has skewed perceptions of Germany a bit, they're very good but they have mistakes in them and could well bottle it.

Messi might put on a masterclass and win it for Argentina...

The win over Brazil just highlighted how Brazil couldn't cope without 2 players whom they relied on so heavily. Germany being trained since kids in national academies just walked all over them.

Yes, their defence was a little lacklustre (my only observation/criticism), but their attack was phenomenal.

In the game tonight they just need to keep some good defenders to lock Messi down, and they should outclass the remainder of the side.

Messi is just another Ronaldo/Neymar/Rooney team-mascot figurehead whom people hype up, and may deliver if given opportunity, but rarely are against good teams. He can deliver some smart opportunities like Pirlo, but that is why they need to close him down.

I agree that all Germany need to do is keep an eye on him but Messi isn't just someone people hype up! :/

He actually is pretty good...

Argentina have been pretty awful the whole WC. They have never played well and as others have said, most of the time their football has been awful. Against the Netherlands they had 10 men behind the ball for 90% of the game.

I don't think anyone has realised the teams that Argentina have played against have sat multiple people behind the ball, and closed down space very well. Belgium and the swiss are defensively very astute as we're Netherlands. When a team opened up ie Nigeria then the were given the freedom to exploit, albeit at the downfall of defense, but demichellis is back there now.

I think it will be more close than people think. And to be fair if they are at the final, regardless of the path they took they deserve it. They did something that other teams couldn't do, ie, defend superbly on the whole, and nick the goal that's needed.

It will be an interesting match for sure. Argentina have excelled with a disciplined and structured defence. Whether the speed of passing from Kroos actually allows them to get into position in time may well be the determining factor. You can guarantee Muller will find space it's whether the ball gets to him in time from what we have seen so far it will. Mascherano and Muller will be an intriguing battle it may well be a record breaking KM coverage from one of them. Messi looks jaded but can win a match on his own especially if Hummels isn't back and therefore even more pace is removed from the German back line. Maybe they will get Lahm to sit on Messi and move him away from RB.

Yeh it could turn out to be a completely different match for sure :P.

Torn about the final. On the one hand its argentina and i dislike the country in general. But Ronaldo's face would be priceless if messi lifts the world cup. Just want a good game.

The Brazilian's probably wouldn't be too happy either if Argentina won the tournament on their home turf. :p

I just hope for an entertaining game but everything I've seen so far Argentina will probably negate Germany's threat whilst creating very little themselves. I'm going for a narrow Germany victory.

Germany could put two or three players om Messi and the rest are more than capable of obliterating the very average remains of the Argentinian team

Germany: Neuer, Howedes, Hummels, Khedira, Schweinsteiger, Ozil, Klose, Muller, Lahm (c), Kroos, Boateng

Argentina: Romero, Garay, Zabaleta, Biglia, Perez, Higuain, Messi (c), Mascherano, Demichelis, Rojo, Lavezzi

Surprised Aguero is on the bench.
