Hi guys, I am getting all my upvc windows changed next month, I've already found a local company which my next door neighbour used and recommended, Bloke seems sound and the price is very good, He also sells composite doors - I've told him I want the front door change a month after the windows (next payday)

This is his website - http://www.yorkshirecompositedoors.co.uk/

I've watched a lot of YouTube videos and they seemed to suggest getting a solid core door, the doors he sells are GRP composite police approved, Will this still be ok or is this a cheaper door? to be honest the front of my house is exposed and I doubt no body would be stupid enough to try break in the front and also the police would never break down my door as a I don't sell drugs lol

Any advise please ??

Have you ever tried kicking through a piece of thick grp? They would rather snap the lock than try kicking it in. Only reason to go for a reinforced core would be to stop the police smashing through with their battering ram, which a few dodgy customers in Burnley go for lol.

I'd just go for the standard foam core for better thermal performance.

Making sure the lock cylinder is Avocet ABS is more important than the kick through strength of the door. As already said, lock more likely to get snapped than someone kicking your door in (apart from police).

Ordered my door yesterday :D £865 all in

Can't wait !! Everyone thinks im sad for being excited haha

Will post pics once fitted

You are not alone, everyone gets excited about a new composite door. As soon as we start unloading the gear the customer comes out and wants to have a peek at the door :D.

Fitted a composite on my own house and couldn't be happier with it. They are so much better than a PVC and not even that much more expensive, i can't see why PVC doors are even still being used tbh.

I'm ordering a new door on Monday (although only budget range PVC) and I'm also excited :D

Also excited about having keyed alike ABS cylinder to match one already on my patio door :D:D

I'd be changing those Yale locks assuming that's what it comes with.

e; I'd be looking at Abus cylinders, the more you spend the better.

This is the door and new side window I re-hosted it

It comes with the yale anti snap/anti bump lock

Wasn't planning on swapping it for an ABS? My current door has an ABS atm

The yale anti snap isn't anti snap really the only decent euro profile locks is avocent ABS. Combined with a solid composite door such as rock door no one is getting in!

Yep or them ;) I really like the dimple locks most come with anti drill pins and therefore need to be picked and most people wont know how to pick dimples ;) Does sort of bring trouble if you're locked out though.

Yeah definitely for the sake of £35 or so you spent almost a grand on your door it's a no brainer really. Avocet also make dimple rim cylinder locks which is a worthwhile upgrade for a lot of the wooden doors out there.

Composite doors are so much nicer than the awful white PVC ones that most people have.

I don't think home owners are buying them anymore, I've already had a few neighbours and friends around for a nosey, I've been spreading the word lol
