Let's see what you guys would do.... (spec me thread)

If I was spending that amount of money I would honestly wait a couple of more months (September?) for X99... anything you buy now is going to get old very quickly, X99 will be top dog for the next 2-3 years at least, probably more if recent history is anything to by.

Doh, I meant Asus not AMD lol, having too many condos whilst posting on here -. -

Ether us chatting to me on Facebook lol. That's one of the convos =p

September is too late. This build will be at an event in August I will probably build something for April with the latest tech

I'd go X79 then, 4930K.

Spending that amount of money and going with LGA1150 is just silly imo.

No point, No games ultilise the extra cores/threaded, really. It only alleviates some of the bottleneck on the cards.

For gaming 1150 is spot on, even with 780 SLI. :)

So, Davido, post us your spec!! :p

For the performance difference (for what this build will be doing at least) it makes very little difference. This is just as much as being about looks as it is about being an awesome machine. To the people I'm building for, this is advertising, not a gaming machine. However, it does need to have the backbones of a decent machine! I don't disagree with you particularly, x79 would be my choice, but the lack of boards is what is putting me off slightly.

I can't really give the full spec as I wrote it on paper (something I hardly ever do) and that's currently at home whilst I'm at work but iirc the main one was something like the following...

2x 780s (I did want 3 770s but all the boards that I liked didn't really support them)
16gb ram (didn't specify a type as I know it's one of the things that would be got cheaply if not free)
Sabertooth TUF board (spray the armor and it looks a completely different board)
A 4690 iirc
Corsair 540
And waterblock from xspc.
Ssds from crucial (again, they can apparently get them easier)
PSU from Xfx (shudder) but again they can get them cheaper.

I Sent around 5 different builds just swapping a few things around, some going over budget, some using older stuff but imo would look far better.

The colour schemes I said at first were:

White and green (corsair 540)
Black and yellow (corsair 540)
White and orange (YAY!!!) (corsair 540)
Black and pink (bitfenix shinobi xl)
Black and yellow (corsair 800d)

Oh, as for fans I went for corsair sp 120s for most of the specs, bar one where I used eloops

Nice selection,

(Not to sound self indulgent but..) I think my Black and white spec could be a good starting point..

Think about it.. If you changed the Loop colour to Green, got some SP120's/Af120(140)'s instead of the Phanteks; spray the Rings Green and Change the Cables to Green, thats a Black/white/Green scheme.

Then its just a matter of changing those to orange for a black/white/orange scheme.

I think the real draw is the white GPU PCB and blocks, you don't see them often atall.

The way i look at colour schemes is the Motherboard is a blank canvas, the RAM and GPU's add the secondary colour and the rest (cables/Fans/Loop ect) can be the same or adding a third colour.

I wish i had the money to build that White Rig. :)

Black and red Ether style ???

Or you could ask if they wanted to build this ...... here

That is sweet, Overbudget as always. :)

Our joint spec was/is so good. The TITAN's are £50 cheaper now, so WOAHH! :)

I know I'm over budget but it is purely for looks tho and means Dave wouldn't have to do a lot of modding to get it looking the part ;)

Our joined spec was good maybe this could be time to do it again maybe, just this time your in charge of the budget!

I do wonder if our last joined spec was ever built?
