Can you guys help me make a decision on what gfx card to get ?

Its thrashing my head i have always been nvidia, never ever tried ATI and im the most undecisive person ever.

I have the choice of

R9 290 tri x sapphire for £230
Direct CUII OC 770 for £220
ATI 7990 for £230 -£240

I ideally wanted a 780 but i cant seem to source one for less than 300 which is my budget (roughly £240-£260)

ive watched hours of review but i cant seem to make my mind up, id miss physx which i love, but, i cant see that it woul dmake much impact if i didnt have it, but i love it in metro.

I like the idea of mantle for the future

My friends say nvidia, mostly becqause they all have nvidia and theres a stigma with drivers and the cards running hot, drawing more power and not being as fast in games.

Payday is tommorrow, i need to choose lol.
 
In your shoes, if I couldn't source a cheap enough 780 then I would go for a 290. The Tri-X 290 is apparently very good. Looks great, too.

What is your system spec?

ddr3 dual corsair 2133mhz 8gb
corsair rm 750 watt crucial mx100 256gb ssd
h440 case and currently my friends 460 ahah :P
 
imo 290 trix, is the best choice
a lot better perf than 770, double the vram and have Mantle as a Perk
less perf than 7990, but quiter, cooler, compatible freesync and true audio
 
yeah it is, its listed as new too, un activated warranty. im honestly thinking i should go amd this time
 
That Tri-X is a great price.

The 7990 would give you more straight-up performance, but you'd have to deal with Crossfire compatibility stuff, the heat, the fact it's EOL, etc.

I'd go for the 290 Tri-X if it were my money.
 
ill be honest i didnt want to say because it was faux pas, it was a bid i was bidding on and won, but thinking about it it seems like a steal. Im wanting to pay for it but trying to contact the seller for past 2 days confirming they are active to post it and that its in good working order, but theyre non existant and the last sale they made was 2010 the last by being in june. im hesitant, seems too good to be true.
 
He's still not replied so I'm thinking this is a really bad idea to plunge I guess I'm covered by PayPal but I'd be screwed for a month , any advise ?
 
This is exactly why I need to get Members Market access. I'm missing all the bargains :(
Why does it have to be 1000 posts minimum? I'm miles away from getting to those dizzy heights :(

For straight performance 7990. None of the other single cards can beat it.
Anything that support CF, including Metro, going to run superbly.

My second choice could have been the 290 Tri-X only if the 7990 wasn't an option to pick.

Its for Buyer and Seller Safety, It used to be less (300) but that got abused too often.

Just bide your time... Keep Active and before you know it you'll have access. :). Its a reward not a right. :)

My apolagies mate,

The seller got back to me and so I paid, I picked this choice for a few reasons, - 4gb vram, true audio, gcn1.1 and thermals - I only have a h440 case and I believe the 82.c of the 7990 would have choked the thermals, the tri x is supposed to run less than 70. Also, it'd touted as new, comes with inactivated 2 year warranty and bf4 game. If it falls through and he scams my ass, I'll be coming to you , until then glws

In all honesty, I can fully understand why it requires such a high post count. By keeping it at 1000 it's going to weed out a huge number of scammers. Which in turn is going to make the Members Market a much better/safer place to do business. I only wish I'd discovered Overclockers sooner, because if I had, I'm pretty sure I'd have MM access by now :p
