Interesting that Forbes are doing this type of story. PC gaming is seeing a resurgence in a big way right now. Great that's it's getting so much coverage, and positive PR when compared to console gaming.

Resurgence? I don't really think it ever went anywhere. The main criteria that was used to claim PC gaming was dying were the continual reports that PC sales were in decline. I see it as no coincidence that now PC sales are picking up again that some companies are now claiming PC gaming is on the up.

The issue is the correlation between PCs sold and the health of the PC gaming industry, because really anyone moderately into PC gaming will have at least thought about building their own PC, either built their own PC or have a friend who has done it for them, at least from my experience. I don't know anyone that has bought a ready built PC for games that wasn't a laptop.

When the new consoles were revealed to be absolute drivel, it was only inevitable. Worst hardware jump in history.

No and no. It's not the worst jump in history, and they are not absolute drivel. I wish people would understand the differences between something being awful, and disliking something.

The PC won a war it isn't involved in! Yay!

The PC will always remain a large platform for games but the consoles success will determine what games come to the scene. Without consoles I very much doubt AAA games would exsist as they do today, you wouldn't be seeing the likes of 4-5 "blockbuster" games coming out during the holiday season.

You would see a lot more smaller titles, interesting game experiences or games with massive scope and depth. Much as you do today on PC in smaller numbers.

Hopefully all sectors of the gaming industry remain profitable and continue to grow as it benefits everyone who is a fan of games as your choices grow 10 folds in what you would like to play.

To be fair, the consoles' hardware is something of a loss leader for the profit generating games.

And multi-platform games sell around 3 or 4 times as many copies on each of the two main consoles as they do on PC (about 15x as many for CoD). And those console guys pay more for each game too.

Not sure how accurate, but you can compare games sales here;

It's good news that the PC is doing so well but threads like these just seem so childish. However the consoles do have a problem with being rather underpowered compared to the release of the last generation.

Yes of course they do:

Titanfall, Dead Rising 3 etc.

Good, not great.

I remember the Xbox 360 didn't have any great titles for a while...nor did the PS2 on release come to think of it.

Titanfall isn't exclusive, and DR3 is coming to PC soon.

Consoles aren't worth owning at all right now, no good exclusives, sub par performance. I regret buying my PS4, but hey ho, at least PC is still worth it.

Did you click on the link? Metal Gear Solid V is a good exclusive.

You've only got to look at all the available hardware aimed at gamers now to where it was ten years ago.

Look at all gaming peripherals, cases, case mods, etc.

How a motherboard looks is a selling point nowadays.

It all points to a market that has been growing for years.

The guys at Overclockers are on their third warehouse since it started buying gear off them, getting bigger with each move.

Not sure how you deem it childish, the thread is titled from the Forbes article. Maybe you are projecting? Some people like to read positive things about PC gaming, as normally we get nothing but PC is dying / dead articles etc. Good that some positive articles are being written.

Yeah I really like our PS4, but sometimes think maybe I should have waited. I just had to have one at launch, launch fever took me over :p

The kids love it though so still has value, but my youngest absolutely loves the Wii U lol. Great lil console that one. On PS4 I think once Last of Us comes that will tide me over until the next big PS4 game. Uncharted if the past games are anything to go by will be amazing. Drive Club looks great as well.

Looking forward to Dead Rising 3 on PC, not sure about this weird 30fps limit though? As long as it runs smooth it might be ok I guess.

I've been hearing "ERMERGERD PC GAMING IS DYINGGG" for years now, wondering what they were talking about. It seems to have been one of those things, where if someone hears something enough times, they start to believe it and don't even consider that there could be something up with it.

You'd have to be blind to be a PC gamer and also believe that PC gaming has been on death's doorstep for however many years.
