AMD GCN Update: Iceland, Tonga and Hawaii XTX

UAV Ordering (Unordered Access View Ordering)

UAVs cannot guarantee that each frame will access pixels in the same order. In order to avoid artifacts, some sorting is required. AMD’s UAV Ordering is basically a copy of Intel’s PixelSync. It’s a special algorithm to solve three problems: order-independent transparency, complex scenes anti-aliasing (for example hair or fences) and shadows from transparent effects.

This technology will drastically change the complexity of the scene in newest games.

This is what I'm interested in!! This development has the potential to produce outstanding graphics on its own and with Mantle.

Meh, just a clock speed bump going by that, doubt it'll be anything significant.

yeah i said in the other thread. the 290/290x owners theres nothing to worry about really. the xtx only has clock speed bump which im guessing the core will be around 1100 or 1150mhz.

Meh, i should have read it, i doubt its going to be more than ~1100Mhz possibly 1500Mhz on the memory.

Yup, it'll show a minor change in benchmarks, that's about it. Wonder if they're debuting a new cooler with it? That's the only thing id be interested in seeing.

wonder if it will overclock like a beast. im awaiting delivery of a 290 tri x, no idea what to expect, first time going amd in about a decade

the 290 series if nothing else they need to make up for the aweful reference cooler, but i would be disapointed, if only frequency and cooler changed, ppl need new stuff we are bored...

Just my personal (guess) opinion, but I'd expect an AIB only cooled 290XTX or whatever the naming scheme will be. A boosted core clock to around 1100-1150Mhz and a memory speed of 1500Mhz using either Hynix or Samsung. That will be enough to topple a 780TI/Black at the lower resolutions and will widen the gap at 4K. I hope the new cards come with an 8Gb option too for 4K.

2016 will be exciting as well, we will be on the hype train for 10nm and things will really start to change with Pascal. :D

Yeah mate, 2016 will be crazy in terms of what technology is available.

Nvidia and AMD GPU's, but also rumor of AMD bringing something major out in the CPU space. Imagine what phones / tablets will be like then as well..
