Don't want this to be a TN v IPS but I would like to know how long till we see 4k IPS 28" screens, I have seen some 24" ones at about £1500-£2000 iirc. Obviously we can't be certain but would like to hear people's opinions on this.

There are some affordable 27" UHD panels on the way using AHVA, which is an IPS panel type. One monitor known to be using this panel is the ASUS PB279Q which is currently scheduled for a mid-late Q3 release.

Hopefully AMD will have something like G-Sync by then to go with the new 20nm GPU that will power it :) Will be nice to see something like this at a not to stupid price.

when you upgrade Doogles, sell me your dgm cheap please mate ;-)

If I get members market access I might sell it, but I have paid £40 for a nice stand for it + it would make a brilliant second monitor :D

Other than the Asus, do you know of any others?

+1 their must be though, otherwise Asus would be charging over the top for it like the Swift. Would be nice to know for sure as Dell do make a 4k 24" for £750, but bit to much with the smaller screen size.

That Dell 24" is IPS btw, and probably the cheapest IPS around. Not ideal and still £750 but...

And smaller :( can never downgrade in size, I am happy with my setup atm but if a certain 4k came around that I really thought  at I would get it depending on price.

None have been announced yet, but it's only a matter of time. BenQ are the parent company of the panel manufacturer and don't yet have any '4K' models in their line-up. I fully expect them to have one in the works.

Would like to say a few months ago some people said that the jump from 1440p to 4k is not has big say from 1080 and than one can really tell the difference.

And myself using Gedosato is does look like hey there is a change but not to much.

Or is Gedosato not 100% 4k.

Having a 1440p Hazro I think a ultra wide screen is better overall for enjoyment from the looks of 1440p to 4k.

Hard to say, but I imagine that prices should hopefully come down a fair bit over the next 12 months as production ramps up on other 4k IPS panels like AU Optronics AHVA 28".

Personally, I'm waiting for a 28"+ IPS-Type monitor with FreeSync compatibility before planning to upgrade from my old (2008) HP LP2475w. And tbh, the 4k eco-system doesn't seem quite there yet: i.e. due to the current scarcity of G-Sync and (lack of any) FreeSync capability; HDMI/DP bandwidth issues limiting refresh rates; IPS panel production still ramping up, plus the prerequisite of needing an exotic GPU set-up to get playable framerates at 4k resolutions.

The whole prospect should be a lot clearer next year with next generation GPUs, improved panel production and competition, wider G-Sync and FreeSync prevalence, etc. That said, the 31.5" IPS Sharp IGZO panel 4k monitors have come down a lot in price in recent months as you noted earlier (now £1500-2000), whereas they started out around the £4000 mark at launch IIRC so the downward trend is there.

I wouldn't mind playing at medium settings if I could power a decent 4K monitor but if I have to lose screen clarity then I would rather stick to 1440p, plus I don't think game textures are quite there yet.
