Hi everyone, looking for a little advice which is probably so obvious but ay how i want to make sure.

I have an Asus Rampage IV Extreme mobo.

And I have a Nepton 140XL CPU Cooler fitted to the back of my Colossus case.

I only just have enough room to fir one of my GPUS in the top slot... Im worried its not in tight enough but any how..

Which slots do i put my GPU's in for best crossfire set up?

Thanks in advance

With that Motherbaord, for maximum GPU performance you want to put the GPU's in the top 'red' slot, and the 2nd from bottom 'red' PCI-E slot. Your top card will run at 16x and your 2nd card will run at 8x :)

Also There is a plug at the side of my GPUS, Do i need to put power into this?

Yes mate, you'll have a couple of plugs, both of these require power cables to be plugged into them, I think they are 8pin plugs that are required on the 290x cards.

Get the system up and running first dude :)

Yeah get it all up and running first of all mate, two 290x is going to be one hell of a powerhouse, you may very well find that they don't need overclocking for what you'll do with them. If however you do wish to go down that route, come back and we'll be able to help you out for sure :D

Its up and its running! Thanks a lot.

Now for the OC part...

Where do I start?

With my cards and stock and my 4930K at stock im getting around 14500 Score on firestrike is this about right?

Yeah if your running default presets that's prob not far off.
Download MSI Afterburner and crank up the sliders-in small steps of course and keep an eye on those temps!

As for the CPU, that's all done in the BIOS, have a Google for a guide on that ;)

Also what about voltage? I know i have to switch power to +50% but what about voltage is it best to just leave tat default and see what i can push it to with temps under 70-80? ( whats the ideal temp)

Also is using firestrike good enough to test.

I'd do the core clock at 10mhz intervals, run the test and see if it improves. Keep working until you either get artifacts or the test crashes. Then bump the voltage up a small amount, and then go back to upping the core clock. Once adding voltage doesn't make a difference, put everything back to stock and start upping the memory clock, doing the same with the voltage once the test fails.
Once you've completed both of those you'll have a maximum clock for both of the core and the memory, it's then a simple case of trying them both together. . . All the time you have to keep an eye on the temps obviously.

Ive got it to +69mv+
+50% limit
1145
1600

But my gpu 1 core clock flucuates? I have done the powerplay support fix but it still happens any ideas?

If it's fluctuating it might mean that's it's getting a bit on the warm side, what temps was it showing when it was doing that?
