Can you get these to work like the Phillips Ambilight, where it auto changes due to whats on screen?

Does that act as an 'ambilight' sort of thing? Changes based on what you have on the screen? Or do you manually set the colours etc? Thanks!

You pick a colour from the remote.

It can rotate through the spectrum but it does not react to the TV....it is £9.99 after all.

Ofcourse there are but nothing that is as cheap and simple. Lightpack for example or othere that can run on a pi.

Tbh, i was going to upgrade mine to a ambilight clone but really once the novelty has warn off its always on white or dark blue.

Not off the shelf that I've seen. I'm sure you could knock one up using a RaspPi or similar.
