*** Nokia Lumia 930 ***

Im thinking of chopping in my nexus 5 for one of these on payandgo from EE.

Am wondering if it will still come with the extras bundle ?

No mention of it with my purchase so far! The contract ones have it shown on site but not the PAYG. I'll post here if I get any mention of it. The phone has shipped already though so I'm guessing the extras are not part of the deal.

Okay so got a play about and must say im impressed, coming from the 920.

The screen is quality, its physically smaller and lighter in noticeable ways compared to the 920 ( not that hard to expect really), though the back speaker is quality sound.

The must stupid thing is annoying me right now. The start tile for my photos is displaying some nice images, that's defaulted to my favourites. With it being a new phone, I have no faces selected, so it must be stock images on the phone. I'll be damned of I can find them though!

See their Icon reviews, its the exact same phone.

Well that's caused some issues.... One of the annoyances on my One is battery life. According to GSM arena the battery life on the 930 is half to 2/3rds of the One... At least when actually doing anything. Standby rates are obviously better due to WP but they still give a better battery life to the One.

Still very, very tempted though. Especially with the wireless charging, it would make charging at night and at work much easier.

Plus if you get it in the next 2 weeks, you should get 2 wireless chargers. One for home, one for work.

:Dloving mine so far. 1st windows phone and I have to say I don't think I will miss android at all. the 930 seems a fantastic bit of kit so far, will have to live with it for a while before I know for definite

Well, If the rumours are to be believed then MS will announce a VM application to run all android apps on windows phones, much like Jolla do with android apps on Sailfish.

Which is a shame and could kill the platform. I really hope they don't. Doing that would mean developers have even less reason to develop wp8 apps. Which means we'll be left with buggy, inefficient apps. As they aren't designed to run on wp8.

And there's a lot of support on windows phone feedback site, to not do it. I hope they listen.

Yeah I really dont want this, App situation is ok to fine, only thing Im missing is PvZ2 rest is just noise in the app store for me. I know people are different and how they havent got 100% of banks and sky go yet is beyond me.
If they do this then gone are the windows phone native app updates from many developers.

Well theirs a few things going on to cause this.
WP 8.1 isn't done fully yet. As they reviewed it was about the very first release.
Nokia cyan wasn't out then. Also, after any update ALL the apps are set to run on the background. I think many users forget to go and turn nearly all of them off, except the live tiles you want running. Give me the weekend and I can give you a realistic use and battery rate.

That's why I want to get one ASAP if I do. The problem is while that's fine day to day I still have problems with days I'm travelling around a lot on trains etc. Out of interest how accurately do you need to place the phone on the charger for it to work? Can you just dump it on at any angle and it'll do it or does it need to be placed accurately/right way round etc?

The Icon battery test was done in March, before WP8.1 was released. Do 8.1 and Cyan increase battery life considerably? The main issue I see is I browse the Guardian on the train/tube several hours a day which has a white background. GSM Arena suggest the white background on OLED is what is killing the battery in their tests.

A realistic battery life test would be good thanks.

I'm missing Booking.com and Nationwide. That's about it, ignoring some of the Google apps like ITA (flight checker) and the official google drive.

getting used to it slowly, after 5 years of ios its been interesting.

no official youtube app ? do any of the 3rd party ones allow you to show videos on my TV ?

music information on the lock screen ?

the extra charger is a power pack so it will work on trains,it can be dumped on any angle but it has the charging bit below the on button so if you place it near the camera I will not charge

I've got still the free bundle that came with the 1020 and that was all black to compliment my colour phone. So I'm left wondering why they didn't do the free bundle in black this time around.

ccessories kit available:
'Orange' contains Orange MD-12, White DC-50 +£20 Windows Store voucher
'Green' contains Green MD-12, White DC-50 + £20 Windows Store voucher
'White' contains White MD-12, White DC-50 + £20 Windows Store voucher
'Yellow' contains Yellow MD-12, White DC-50 + £20 Windows Store voucher

Problem with the extra charger is you have to carry it around with you all day as well, it's not quite the same as actually having something inbuilt. It would be useful though if I remembered it or it wasn't somewhere I wasn't. If it's at work for example (as my work charger) then deciding to have a day out on Saturday would mean I couldn't use it...

Thanks for the info on the charger though, being able to plonk it on without much thought is good!
