I love my bike's. Wish i could get another. i recently sold my Kawasaki z750r black edition. to help with a deposit on a house, but i really miss it.
Having said that, i've been scarred for life after what i saw the other week. driving down the A28 coming home from Ashford. i was the second on the scene, a bike had crashed into a car. it's a country road, and the women driving the car must have tried to do a U-turn because the bike had T-boned her. and there was nothing left of either the car or bike.
the Motorcyclist was still breathing when we got there but hadn't moved at all.. a few people were around him, but you could tell nothing would save him. he ended up choking on his own blood & died before emergency services arrived.
To top it off, his Wife somehow managed to get to the scene, and for me this was the worst part. you could literally hear her heart breaking through her screams.. people were fighting to hold her back from her husband because he was such a mess.
The driver of the car got off lightly, but unfortunately her Daughter in the back didn't. for about 20 mins the Air ambulance crew were fighting to get her stable so she could be flown to a hospital in london. and as far as i'm aware she's still in a very bad way in hospital.
Seeing this and then imagining it was me out on my bike for a lil' cruise and then all of a sudden, my lifes over and my partner/family's life is ruined just isn't worth it... doesn't matter how safe a rider you think you are, it can happen. when i had my bike i knew how dangerous they could be but just thought, aaah it'll never happen to me. fortunately it didn't. but i could have easily been that man who lost his life.. and now i've actually witnessed it with my own eye's. i'l never be getting another bike.
I know people will say it can happen in a car, i know this. but it's far less likely. if the man who died was driving a car, perhaps the women would have actually seen him and not done a U-turn, or even if she did.. he can stop quicker than a bike and the collision may of just give the drivers a few cuts & bruises rather than life's being ruined.
