I'm talking about going into a bank and asking for £100-150+ in £1 coins and £100+ in 50p coins.

Do they let regular customers do this sort of thing?

Are you hoping to find a few special edition coins among that lot, sell them then put the rest back in the bank?

I'm collecting certain coins and some of them I have barely come across before so I'm hoping just getting a lot of £1 coins will get me the ones I need.

As for the 50p coins, they are even worse for me. I very rarely get anything other than the Britannia/royal arms design. Although it would be nice to get the Kew Gardens design as it currently sells for £20+.

It may be advisable to order your cash in advance depending on the amount you require. Just let your bank know in advance you will be changing x amount of money giving them time to get your change in so as not to leave them 'shortchanged'

If you're lucky you might get one of them Stalker coins. Those are the coins you want to get your hands on.

Do you really think that amount is going to leave the bank shortchanged?

That amount is nothing......... banks keep tens of thousands of pounds in coinage. Cashier wont bat an eyelid at a request for that amount of change (as long as its the OP's own bank).
