:mad:Need urgent help with video's recorded on my mobile phone, they are in the .3gp format and I have uploaded them from the phone onto the computer as usual, only to find the same mistake I sometimes make man

The stupid mobile phone I have I keep forgetting that when shooting video that if I hold the camera horizontal it means that the video plays back on its side and I have lots of videos like that because of that simple mistake I keep making man :(

I use mostly VLC player to play all video's etc, but would use anything if I could get these videos spun round to the correct way.

So that is my question, surely there must be a way in this day and age of 2014 that I can spin the video round to view the correct way round for viewing just like you can do easily with photos, but I just cant find how to do it yet.

Does anyone know ? Its family videos for my family over in the USA and I am desperate to get them sorted out etc, thanks man if anyone can help :)

Cheers :)

VLC will let you rotate them when viewing, but I guess you're after a permanent solution?

cheers mate :)
ohh, I didn't even know vlc will allow viewing normal way round when viewing them, hmmmm, hows that done if you don't mind me asking , I looked but cant see the option ?

plus yes I need a permanent fix as I want them posted up on social media for my family etc etc etc thanks if possible :)

In VLC:
Tools > Effects and Filters > Video Effects > Geometry > Rotate.

I believe Windows Movie Maker (Windows live now?) should do it, but you'll probably need to convert it into something 'usable' first. Handbrake should be able to convert it.

yes mate, that's it, and it sticks too, well I haven't tried a system restart yet though, LOL, cheers man :):D

hmmmmmmm, sorry, nothing works man :( , I was wrong :( , I am desperately trying to get a totally free program for windows 7 that I can use.

I have a video that was taken with my mobile phone but the phone was held round the wrong way and now when its loaded onto windows pc it shows sideways.

Its very very easy to get lots of programs that allow you to rotate the video so that you can view it there and then, I think Vlc also does that too, BUT its a totally different story when you want to fix the video permanently the correct way round to view on windows and also post the video onto facebook.

I must have tried about a dozen programs so far, so good ones but in the end they don't allow you to do everything unless you pay for a licence and then the other programs that appear to be totally free are totally loaded with hidden addware man :(

Try it out and you shall all see what I mean, shoot a video holding your mobile phone the wrong way round and then try and get a "FREE" program that will allow you to turn the video round to the correct view and also to convert it into one of the formats that facebook will accept.

Facebook try and say they will accept .3gp video's, but whether they do or don't, the thing is I still need this video spun round the correct way and saved like that the correct way and then post it onto facebook, I think the most favoured format for facebook is meant to be MP4 format (I think).

I would really really appreciate if anyone at all can help me with this as soon as possible as I am ready to have a nervous breakdown with this thing man, I have literally spent about 24 hours at this now and still got nowhere, and also picked up malware/Trojans etc from the dodgy programs I took a chance on too, lol, I should have know better, but such is life as they say, lol.

I am sure one of you techno wizards will know what I need to get and do please ?

Appreciated very much guys n Gals :) :) :)

hmm not pr0n is it?

If you want a fix, then you could in theory play them in vlc, record the window using a free month trial of SnagIt, save the recording and use that as your format going forward?
A round about way to attempt the process, but should work, as you can choose whatever codec you like within the bowels of SnagIt.

I use Freemake video converter http://www.freemake.com/free_video_converter/ when I need to convert things quickly and simply (handbrake when quality is more important).

It can rotate the video and convert it to a more widely accessible format (like .mp4). This does means transcoding though, so expect some loss in quality.

Be carefully when installing, the installer is full of spam, the program itself is fine though.
